Hail Damage.......

Hey all, well this weekend sucked....had just had the complete clearguard kit (bumper, hood, mirrors, lights,) installed on my 2K2 SE Sat. and would you guys believe Sun. my MAX was sitting in a shopping center parking lot when it stormed and ended up having hail damage, 2700 miles...and now i have small dents on hood, roof, and deck lid. My question is this: do any of you all have experience with paintless dent removal? I have an appointment this Sat for an estimate with a guy who specializes in this process....or should i hold out for a new hood and deck lid and then hope this guy can remove the roof dents? I'm pretty dejected.....cant believe my luck Any comments would be greatly appreciated. The damage would not be too noticeable to someone walking by my car and just glancing at it. Also I'm happy with the clearguard on the front of the max.

hmmm

I've seen both ends of the spectrum. The bad results were largely fly by night places that swooop in after a big hail storm. they are around for a week and then vanish.

However, a coworker had his civic beat to crap. He says he can still see some spots, but I really can't and I really have an eye for that kind of thing. The downside? it cost $2400... seriously.. 4-6 guys worked all day with those funky tools and massaged them all out. I wouldnt have believed it if I hadnt seen the before and after.

So I guess it largely depends on the experience of the shop. As car as dent repair goes, I've had door dings taken out and been very happy with the results. A reputable shop will tell you up front if there is something they cant get out. For instance, I took a car once for a BB dent. They said they didnt want to try cause I wouldnt be happy.

i had about 6 dents on my roof from my now previous residence. i walked outside to go to work and i noticed glass all over the ground, mainly surrounding my car. the BlTCHES that lived on the upper floors of my apt building thought it would be entertaining to drop beer bottles down onto my maxima.

needless to say i was PlSSSSSSSSSSSSSSST! however, i got friends that do PDR and they got them all out for me for real cheap. $100. today, i see no dents whatsoever, and trust me, i strain as hard as i can to see if i can even spot a blemish. only one spot has a problem. the beer bottle had chipped a small amount of the paint and although they got the dent out now i have an extremely tiny rust spot on my roof. i plan to fix it before it grows but its barely noticeable.

if youre going to do it, have it done right, by professionals. this means youre going to spend a lot of cash though. it can run up to $100 a dent on occasion!!

sorry about your car and gl getting it fixed!

I had a local dent wizard in MD

repair 1200 worth of hail damage, damn they were good!! looked better cuz they fixed EVERYTHING including lttle old lady stuff. I have other cars so i could give them all the time they wanted (probably an xtra day is all they took), was very nice to them , gave them a clean car. They advice about a shop that has been in business for an extended time is a a very good idea. Their estimate was 200 below insurance company so I when gave them the insurance check it was like a large tip to the owner. he said he would take care of me in the future....

bought it from nissan parts and had a private shop paint, clearcoat, and install it for me.

it cost me $350 for everything total.

the bumper was $200.

good luck!
