EBC pads vs. others
EBC pads vs. others
I noticed in the June issue of SCC that one of the Acura RSX vehicles with nothing but replacement brake pads (EBC Greenstuff front and rear) outbraked the field with no other brake upgrades. Can anyone talk about these pads in relation to Hawk, Porterfield or Axxix MMs? I don't believe EBC yet has rears for the 5th gen Max other wise I'd order a set of 4 immediately along with some good Brembo blanks. All opinions appreciated, I'm basically looking for a solid pad upgrade with no noise and no harsh rotor wear. Thanks in advance!

A search would reveal further thoughts.
EBC doesn't make rear pads for any Maxima yet.
EBC pads are VERY easy on the rotors. That is the main drawback of the Metalmasters
EBCs are overall a tad better than Porterfields, but dusted more and wore out quicker.
EBC has revised their Greenstuff formula, reducing the dust but its wear rate is still unknown.
Member Mike S. had the most experience with these. I would suggest you search for my conversation with him on the General forum about his impressions with the "new" pads, my rather lengthy posts regarding the subject a couple of years ago, or PM Mike S. for his thoughts in person.

Thanks Bill, will do. I'm not as interested now though knowing that they don't make a rear set. I'd like to upgrade both front and rears and don't want to run different brands with differing properties which may or may not affect brake bias among other things. Again, thanks! By the way, I sent out my first sample to Blackstone on Tuesday so once I get the resultss (including TBN) I'll PM ya if that's the preferred route.
My EBC greenstuff pads on my dodge stealth (front only) were completely worn down and CRACKED in about 5 months... and that was with about 4-5k miles and very easy braking. I will never buy pads from them again... and they are VERY bad in terms of dusting your wheels... contrary to their claims. They also were not willing to do anything, or to even listen to me... when I complained about their crappy pads.

Does anyone know where I could buy the EBC pads and how much they cost? Also, I noticed that there are a variety of materials used, green pads, yellow pads, red pads, etc. Maybe we'd have better luck with a different grade pad? Also I found this review of the green pads from Audi World:

i posted this question a while back prior to buying axxix metal masters (which i never actually mounted). at the time, the consensus was that the green stuff pads were horrible and worse than stock (there were some very passionate opinions). apparently they displayed excessive dusting and minimal performance.
but like bill99gxe said, these may be past issues. if there's a new formula you'll be the guinea pig alright. try tirerack.com, i know they carry the ebc pads.
