clutch question...

is there any way i can make my clutch and gas pedal even off because the clutch pedal is way up compare to the gas pedal.every time i take off in 1st gear i always stall. everytime i take off in 1st gear i have to rev the car up to like 2000rpm so i wont stall. i know it does sound like i dont know how to drive but this only happens when i drive my maxima, in other cars its normal. is it the pedal thing or is it the fuel cut-off thing i've heard about on this site? some one please help...

No flames intended....its practice and familiarity. I drive 3 different clutches within a given week. Its just practice. You can adjust the pedal, although how extreme I cannot comment on.

Yeah I know what you mean...its a pain in the **** ... I don't have an answer for you. Every car has a different clutch. Just takes time and practice...

I stall all the friggin time. I had a 98 Altima 5 speed and I never stalled. With the Maxima, I stall at least once or twice a week. My co workers look at me like I'm a total loser when I have to rev it up in the parking garage when we go home. If there is one thing I hate aboutthe Maxima, its the damn clutch.....

Let me know if you find an answer....I'll be under my car the minute you tell me.

Actually, I am not sure...

what there is wrong about the clutch, other than long travel...my GF's 3 series has a much shorter pedal travel, but overall I prefer the feel of my Max (including the shifter).

I feel your pain!!

But I think I've learned though...after one year of driving the Max, I've managed to start to have fine control of the throttle when taking off in 1F. Just have to give it a little gas...keep it around 1000 RPM and you'll be good.

Good luck.

No. I was out of a standard for 4 years before I came back when I bought my 6-speed. There is nothing wrong with the fuel cut off.

And you shouldn't have to rev it to 2k rpm to start. Can you slowly let the clutch out and get the car moving on flat ground without giving any gas? If you can't, you need practice.

I don't think so...it's just that the clutch is a little bit more sensitive than others. There seems to be a lot of dead-band where you won't get touch-up, but when it touches up, it locks up quickly.

That give the on/off type feeling. So while shifting or taking off...when you try to hit the "G" spot, you either hit it or you don't.
