Success!....Brakes done for Free!

As I had posted yesterday....
http://forums.maxima.org/showthread.php?threadid=116780

I brought my car in (19,000 miles) to fix the brake judder
problem. Infiniti gave us no problems this time. They followed the TSB and resurfaced the rotors and installed new pads for free. They did not give me any problems with the fact that I have a FSTB and that I don't come in for routine service.

They also cleaned the car and gave us a nice new I30 to ride around in all day while the car was being serviced.

Best of all...the judder is gone. Hope it stays that way at least for the next 19,000 miles

One suggestion... loosen the lugs and re-torque to spec., all around, as soon as possible.

Unless you happened to see the mechanic... with your own eyes... hand install and use a torque wrench to tighten them and did NOT use an impact driver except to remove them.

Then see if judder ever comes back on yours!

70-80 Ft/Lbs

In truth I don't know if that is spec but that is what I use for torquing alloy rims! I think some others torque up to 100 Ft/Lbs but I think that is excessive.

Oh yeah... and re-torque within 100 miles, even if these aren't new rims. If new rims you absolutely MUST re-torque, even if you use the 100 Ft/Lb torque, as the rim "seats" on the flange, hub and lugs.

SNaffin rassin @$^&&(***&&

thanks for getting my hopes up then mentioning Infiniti. Most of us poor saps have to use Nissan service, I would be better off having Jiffy Lube resurface them.

Check in your owner's manual for your specific model and wheels. It is listed in there.

nissan service

Yes you won't get the loaner or get the car cleaned at Nissan, but I know several Max owners also has the Judder Brake service done free at their Nissan dealership.

The Nissan dealer cleaned my Max when I took it in for brake judder TSB and when I took it in for the auto tranny slipping TSB and I didn't even buy the car from 'em. I bought it used from the Toyota dealer across the street! No loaner though. Probably just the dealership's policy, but that could also be the same for your Infinity

Even so... maybe I'll try the Infinity dealer when next I have warranty work... they are also the Acura dealer and I've bought a couple of them from 'em!
