Trade In Value????
I have a 2001 Nissan Maxima SE 20th AE, grey lustre, leather, BOSE CD, spoiler, chrome wheels, sunroof, 10500 miles, immaculate condition.
I considered trading it, and I shopped around for a deal. I am receiving $16500 through $18500 for trade in value. Does this sound right? Kelley Blue Book says $21850, but no one except a Chrysler dealer came even close ($20000). Thanks for your help

Bad trade in value
I just went to trade my 2K Maxima SE last week. I love the car, but I wanted to be proactive and not pass my lease allotted 36K mileage. The best offer I got was $15K. Just not a good market for Maxima's. I could sell it to a private party but what a pain in the *** that process is.....
By the way, doesn't it stink to only get 1/2 the initial price you paid for a car when you only drove it for 17 months....

Definitely go private party on the sale. Throw it in the Auto Trader and see what happens.... Pain in the *** or not, it'll make you about $3000 if not more. Also, the 20th Anniversary is a much more in demand vehicle, so you can get wayyyy more than KBB trade in. With 10,000 miles? I just bought mine and that car should be going for about $22,000 if not more. I paid $17,800 for mine 6 months ago with 22,000 miles and it is not the anniversary (although it is fully loaded SE).
BE PATIENT!

I just traded in my 01 se(everything but leather)with 18k miles on it for an 02. The dealer was going to give me 17k for it. I was going to back out of the deal and they ended up giving me 20k for it. My advice would be to not take the first offer they give you. CAUSE THEY WILL TRY TO RIP YOU OFF.

I still got a fully loaded 02 se( With NAV and HLSD) for 28k. So they must have hidden the extra $$ good than.

Advice
I was so close to trading my 2K1 in for a 2K2 except I couldn't sell mine on the open market fast enough. I then started getting a ton of calls and could have got $19,500 for it. If you take to your time on the open market believe me your low mileage AE will sell easily. In the end I am very glad I kept my 2K1, you might want to rethink trading in your AE and just modding it, that is a great looking car. As many have said Nissan just doesn't hold it's value as well as BMW's, Acura's, etc...
