Frankencar installed, weird noises

Just installed the Frankencar with Monster Flow. Honestly it doesn't sound quite as nice as some have made it out to be. With my stereo on medium-low volume and all the road noise, on the freeways I can hear it at WOT but it doesn't sound that amazing. Maybe I need to swap the exhaust or get a cat-back system to get more from the intake.

Strange thing though, when I'm running at a constant speed, if I press on the accelerator a little, I get a squirrely air sound, like air is leaking through somewhere. Anyone else get this? The intake is installed correctly, but I can hear this sound in the cabin, like it's coming through the AC vent.

Well that bites! Maybe it was the three hour install time and I was tired when I took it for a spin right after the install, so it wasn't as impressive as I'd hoped. I took it out again today and it did sound pretty cool at WOT. I could even hear it a bit during normal acceleration. The weird hissing sound is still there sometimes, but I just cranked up the stereo so I couldn't hear it

The weird hissing sound you describe is normal, Tanmann9.

Yeah, I'm pretty incompetent about car work. The instructions for the 2K aren't that great either. However, I have managed to install the 2K2 HIDS and the entire audio system by myself (2 amps\head unit\sub\cap\all new wiring). So I don't feel too bad.

Check to make sure all the clamps are at the end of the rubber peices and make sure they are really really tight.I got a weird sound out of mine at first and then adjusted the clamps and screwed them down super snug with a socket and the problem has vanished.Good luck.

Wow those sound amazing! I haven't driven my car that hard, so I'm not sure if I can get that sound, but i'm pretty sure it's never going to sound quite as nice as on a 2K2. I take back what I said originally, there is an impressive sound on the 2K, but not as aggressive as on the 2K2.

As far as power, I don't feel any loss. Honestly, I've never really driven my car that hard, and am only now pushing it to see how cool the intake can sound, so I have no base to compare it to.

I thought those video clips were BS, till I drove Leftcoast's 6 speed, and installed my brother's Frankencar on a 2K2 GLE, and now I went from a Berk to the Frankencar.. It is loud, and not a CHEESEY noise, but a mean fierce ROAR ! ... I didnt know there is a difference in sound between the 2K-2K1 and the 2K2 ?

kloogy,

the difference between the 2k1 and the 2k2 engines is huge, i don't know what makes that sound but its ****i*n AWESOME

the intake gives to the wheels 10hp and 14tq with the franken for the 2k2, no one knows how much it gives to the wheels for the 2k1

the sound on the 2k2 with the intake i will never here on my 2k1 , but the gains....they might be close

also Tanmann9, can you drive your car hard please and give me some info , its not that hard lol
thanks
