Holes in my muffler?

Holes in my muffler?
Ok this is not for me it's for my brother who's got a 1998 Sentra GLE. His friends told him that he needs to get an aftermarket muffler. They say if he gets an air intake that later down the road in a year or 2 he will have holes in his muffler.
Is this true because if it is then it's the first i've ever heard of it. I've had air intakes on my cars and i've studied and read many tuner mags and have never ever heard of this. So is this bull**** or not? Thanks for any help.

I just couldn't believe that somebody told him this. I told him to start reading some mags like Sport Compact Car and Super Street so he could gain some knowledge on what can and cannot happen to your car or hell just pick up the phone and call Stillen.
