Vibration from m;y engine to match my wheels....help
My wheels were replaced by Sears Saturday since they were scratched from a previous visit. I wathced as they carefully balanced and mounted the wheels (with the old tires). The vibration in the steering wheel and floorboard persists . On my way home today I noticed that while I was stopped at a redlight, my car was idling somewhat irracticaly. Not anything Joe Blow would notice but I could definately feel a vibration in the steering wheel while sitting still. Geez, this sucks. Here is my diagnosis/plan of action
1) Take the car to a tire store to make sure the tires are perfectly in round since the wheels are for sure.
2) Take the car to the dealer to have the following checked if that doesn't solve the problem......
* Suspension components. If it isn't the wheel or tire, it may be the shocks or struts or something else. If that is the case, fine, I'm putting on new high performance shocks/struts tomorrow afternoon anyway.
* Check the motor mounts. I dont know why this came to my head, but I thought that could be a reason for all this vibration.
* Scan the computer
Any and all other suggestions are appreciated, goodness knows I need them

Did they install center hub rings when they mounted the wheels?
I remember a while back when I got my 17" Borbets on my 95 Max and drove on the highway, my steering wheel was shaking bad.
I went back to the place where I got the wheels done and they mounted the wheels with center rings. Vibration went away.
As far as the vibration when you at the light, I noticed that too on my 2002 SE I have a slight vibration when standing still at the light. I used to have the same or even worse vabriation when I had my 2000 Maxima. It might be the mounts, but I never bothered to check it out.

Well, the wheels were shipped to them from Tire Rack and I looked at them before they put them on. On the backside, in the center, there was a black ring. I assume that was it. I'm gonna take it to a tire store tomorrow to have the wheels and tires thorougly checked. It they are alright, I assume it is something with the suspension. Maybe a shock or something.
As for the vibration at idle, I went for a drive after my car had sat for about three hours, and its still there. Still pretty noticeable too . I really have no idea what it could be. Either way my car has less than 8000 miles on it, so this will be a warranty issue.
