Dyno'ed my stock 2k2 at Stillen Open House

(Standard disclaimer)
Temp about 75-80 degrees, humidity about 35-40%
No fan, car baking in sun for 4 hours =P... car had 1900 miles at time of dyno run

I think I shoulda taken the engine cover off as heat soak seemed to be a problem..All runs were done in 4th gear

First run: 205hp 219.5lb-ft
Second run: 198.6hp 209.9lb-ft
Third run: 200.6hp 213.1lb-ft

As you can see, my runs were getting progressively worse. First run was done with the engine almost cold. Hoon told me I should have let the engine warm up AFTER the car was already up on the dyno. All in all i didn't do too bad, I would have been majorly upset had I not broken 200 hp. I must say the 2k2 has an extremely flat torque curve for an import.

Can you guys tell me if my results are typical? Did I do good?

Anyway, now that I have a baseline, I can start modding Put on the frankencar/stillen today, hope that bumps me up a bit.

I'll post the scan tomorrow if I can use the scanner at work.

I still can't believe they gave you the BS answer of "you're not supercharged or turbocharged so the fans are not needed."

Your suprised? At last years open house there was an older guy there with his 5th gen that Stillen had installed the S/C on. Everytime he got close to 4k on the Dyno his car started detonating. Ended up making like 200hp with an S/C! Guy was PO'ed, and the tech guys said they couldn't help him out, typical of Stillen I think.

So what did you dyno Kev?

Tell me the look on their faces when an AUTO that supposedly can't even handle 6psi put down 300+whp.

Hoon told me about the 220 whp SC'ed 5th gen.

I didn't dyno because Stillen blew a Trans Am's motor on the dyno. Jane and I just stepped onto Stillen's driveway, then we heard the Trans Am making funny noises... then POOF! A whole lot of black smoke from the exhaust.

The car wouldn't start, so they had to push it off the dyno. Tow truck came 3 hours later.

288 with the 3.125" and water injection. Haven't dyno'ed with 2.87", but it should put the car well over the 300 mark.

That is probably the same mentality that blew up the Trans Motor!

Excuses, excuses.

Anything new planned Kev or are you finally done?

We need a guinea pig for the JIC coilovers.

Stillen makes people sign waivers before going on the dyno... so the owner is He probably got a free dyno out of it.

Not done yet with the car yet. I'm thinking about taking the car in a whole new direction... haven't made up my mind yet, but we'll see.

JIC was at Open House. They hounded irvine78 about purchasing a set of coilovers.

You should have jumped on that offer. Man you need to get your Max in Hi tech Turbo or some other magazine. It's worthy.

New direction? NOS? Turbo? FMIC?

I know, EVO VII!!!!!!!!!

JIC's might have a spot on the mod list, but I want to see what other coilover systems the US will bring in. Skimax informed me that there are several coilover systems for the A33 chasis.

Maybe Craig Lieberman might call me up for FF2? Hahahaha!!! Yea right!

Different direction with the Max... we'll see though. EVO VII is another story.

Your first dyno run is exactly the same as my second run. They didn't use a fan on mine either.

My runs/graphs are posted on my site (click link to left).

My car had roughly 1300 miles on it at time of dyno - it's a 2K2 6-speed and all runs were done in 4th as well.
