Smc Shifter Update.
Hello all. I have had my SMC shifter for about 7 months now. I finally adjusted it all the way down. Major complaint. The unit is very stiff, and very unpresise. Does everyone else have this issue?

I'm almost at the lowest(shortest throw) setting and I've debated backing if off a little to see if it helps any.

I had it in the middle for 7 months, and it was sucky. went lower today, and it sucks even more. My opinion is they suck.

I feel ya! I'm waiting for Dave B. to get me those cream color bushing hats I mangled, so I can put the stock shifter back in. After, I go to the dealer, I'm going to see if the shorter throw is really worth INCREASING the difficulty of the already sucky stock shifter.
I'm debating just cutting down the stock shifter eventually.

Thats what I thought about doing. Better off lifting the SMC all the way up. So yours was sticky to?

Next, the lever remains inbetween 5th/Rev if you drop out of 5th to neutral, so you have to remember to return the shift lever back to the center manually. The return spring doesn't bounce it back to center.
Last, I pretty much have to always double clutch to get the shifter to do EXACTLY what I want without having to strong arm it.
The smoothness was NEVER there from new, but it's definitely worse with the STS. However, I do like the shorter throws and less likelyhood of missing a shift. Too bad B&M wouldn't help us out with a REAL adjustable(top side adjustable NOT uninstall everything adjustable) shifter. They make some sweet shifters that allow you to adjust height and throw individually with hex keys you can reach from in the cabin.

Well, what can we do. I may put stock one back in. Shorter throws are nice.

My biggest complaint is downshifting from 5th to 4th ... sometimes I can't find 4th for some reason ... 2nd to 3rd isn't an issue but I'm at the middle setting and don't think I'm going to change.
