Dads gonna buy a 2k2! Need help on problems/options

Ok,

My dad is getting ready to ditch his crappy volvo 850 turbo (1996) for a nice new super black 2k2. He is sadly getting the auto (I tried my best for 6spd, but oh well) He went and test drove the GLE today, leather, auto, sun roof, etc. He loved it. So I've been reading over the posts here in the 5th gen forum and I have some questions:

Ive read about a lot of problems with the Radio. Whats the deal with this and would a car bought now not have this problem? What about:
hood shake
rear window wind noise
stabilizer links
?

Any other problems lots of people are having with Automatic 2k2s?

Approx how much more is the navigation? Is it cheaper to go aftermarket (One post said the aftermarket nav systems are 3k?)

And finally-HLSD. Whats so go good about it? Pros/cons? Does it really slow you down (a post said that somewhere)

Thanks guys. its gonna be great having another black max in the driveway!

IN my opinion this is a damn good car. If you look around any car BBS long enough you will see people complaining about things. All in all I think the biggest complaint is the paint. These things chip very easily. The stereo doesn't sound great, but it is above average. The NAV system is about $2k list, but most people get their cars around invoice so it should cost about $1200. It's not DVD based so if you plan to travel far plan to invest in some other CD's for the US (i think about 120 bucks a pop and you need 12 for the whole country I think). An aftermarket DVD based system is probably better, but there are trade offs there too as it won't look stock and you may loose the functionality of the steering wheel controls. The HLSD is only available with the stick, so it's a mute point for the owner of a slush box. In anycase though, it would be a good thing to have (I was about 2 months early so I didn't get it).

Thanks!

Well the dad liked navi until he saw it was 2k. hehe. I just used cardirect.com and got a price of a little over 28k (that was with navigation though). Whats the deal with the Traction Control System? Whys HLSD better than the TCS?

Keep thoughts coming guys. Im going to go look at some rims for it.

TCS is Only available on AUTO's and HLSD is for 6 speeds... I have the Navi and its great ! It flushes nicely into the console, and I paid $29,800 for the loaded 2K2 AUto, Navi, Meridian, and everything available. Look at my homepage for Pics..
