2k2 taillight

I don't like the metal(chrome?) look around the tail light, is it possible to paint them?
Do i paint it inside? outside? or just put something to cover it?

Any pic/link/tip please! thanks u!!

To paint the inside you have to take them apart, which I don't know how to do. You can always paint the outer area around the circles to make it look like this. I bought an extra pair of GLE tails and had them painted.

You would have to open them up and doing so is impossible.

Not impossible just very impractical and costly.....and they may not function as well as they once did. just buy some 2k-2k1 SE tails. does anyone know if they fit?
The SE tails have like a circle of red and clear surrounded by a faux carbon fiber-ish outer area.
real nice on a Supa black car.

IMO it would be better to just paint it from the outside. If you did not seal back properly, moisture could be trapped inside and cause more unnecessary problems. A good paint job should look good like Greg's2kGLE and last.

Costly is for damn sure, I blew about $600 trying to get my tails all red, I busted 3 pairs of tail lights! Please explain how you think you can get them open, I would LOVE to hear it.

I am not a big fan of Altezza- type lights, but these lights set the 2K2 apart ! I personaly think they make the car look smooth !

is there anything different about the AE tails compared to regular 2k1 SE tails?

Just do like I did and find sombody with a 2K1 to trade with. I didn't like the chrome either. You can go with the black tinted ones off the SE or the solid red ones. Painting the outside is your only other option. The lights are easy to swap and many people are willing to trade.
