All the pictures to prove it can be done. And no I did not use Wire Ties.

If you look it is all the way in and made to fit exactly way as if you cut out your own factory grille. I was very shocked when I noticed that if I cut out the factory grille I would be cutting all the screws holes that actually held the surround trim ring around the factory grill in place.

So basically I attached the Street Scenes grill to the surround trim after I dropped the front bumper and what not. Then obvously when you try to put the surround trim back on, it wont go on too far because the Street Scenes grille protrudes out on the back side in a couple places that impede the trim ring from going in further. I just used a Dremel to trim out the excess so that it can allow the trim to fit back on correctly.

It looks beautiful and perfect.

It looks really nice man! I like that grille but I'm not willing to do all the work involved to make it co-exist with the factory grill. Kinda wished it fitted easily as a bolt on/around.

But it looks like your hard work payed off. The car looks sweet.

I could do that, but that would require me to take pictures and remove the bumper again. I can put up simple directions but it dont look like it will help without pictures.

Finally some good pics. The grill looks sweet, but i'm not down to take the bumper off. I checked you website, you should have tinted just the red part of the tails like I did. Never had any problems.
Definitely post how-to in detail, even without the pics.

just wondering....have u noticed that ur driver side 2k2 headlights is off the bumper a little? there is a half inch gap btwn the light and the bumper.

 

That's how the 2K2 lights sit on the 2K-2K1 bumper. Nissan redesigned the 2K2 bumper to accomodate the 2K2 lights better.

It's not really noticeable.

If your too ****....then I'm DEFINITELY too ****. I actually thought/tried to buy a 2K2 front bumper till DaveB told me it was $355 or something UNPAINTED. Plus, I'd have to remove the FUGLY 2K2 grill and put something else in there.

I figured I could live with it.

This obviously needs a little 'modification' to go on the 2k1. Which BTW looks incredible! Would it be any easier on 2k2, or still same modification?

i nominate Big Dog for Maxima of the Month for June of 2002. Looks sweet. When I took out my bumper I noticed how the grill was attached but in a way it looked it was part of it. But it does have some screws on it only you can't seem them without taking the bumper off. Looks good Big Dog. What's next?

Actually you were right, the drivers side light did not SET ALL the way into the headlight clip at the bottom as it is supposed to. Just fixed that today. Good looking out.

Yes I can go back to stock. No problems, remove the grille and take off the clips and put the surrounding trim back on. And yes UNFORTUNATELY you have to take off the front bumper for this. Takes 30mins tops. You dont even have to remove the headlights.

Well I did the whole thing and did not like the "black" look. So I removed it. Plus that is still illegal cause RED has to be clearly visible and reflective.

Got it from the Group deal that was in the GD section. Got the whole thing for $200.

Yes all you need to do is use a thin floss type string and sort of "floss" it off. It is only taped on with double stick tape.

Adman, you know I am "ingenious" when it comes to crap like this. I did not paint it black cause I want to keep it this way. I was thinking to paint it later on, or "worse" get it chrome dipped.

Last I head this WILL NOT fit the 2k2 grille opening for some reason. I think the bumper is slightly different and they opened up the opening a bit more.

Very nice BigJohn! I was considering doing what you did, but I am having my kit installed in a few weeks so the body shop is just gonna do the grill for me. I have my tails all blacked out (I saw when you first did yours), and I love mine! Sometimes I wish I just did the red part and left the bottom clear to match the side markers but oh well! I got my Maxspeeds installed yetserday too. what a difference. They are alot lower then I expected, I love um!

Man those directions are horrid. It clearly states cut horizontaly and cut off everything that comes in the way. Man, you'd think they would check that twice.


You and the trees. Dont make me chrome it. What kind of wheels are those and what size? I want to get new 18" chromes but not too heavy. I been looking at these double 5 spoke by Vault called Jade. I think the chrome 18s weight 22lbs. What you think?

Mine are 18" Alba Blaze. Nice, chrome, heavy
and came with a chrome die cut tree!

They would look good with the grill dipped...

I'm custom chrome dipping my grill as we speak.
I'll post pictures when it's ready, which will be later on today.
Page 2 of my homepage has modified pics of what it would look like.
And that Jetta on there has chromed grill also.

No, i dont' have no street scenes. I just chromed 2 main pieces on the stock nissan grill. My sig has one of the pics, and my homepage has one more. I'm thinking of chroming the thin spokes on the grill as well. I'll keep you guys posted, but meanwhile let me know how it looks.
