Danny from technosquareinc(took over after G-Force or whatever), he thinks the MDM-100 will work if the code is changed.

He also said Techtom is working on an OBD-II version(not sure what he means).

Still have those schematics? Otherwise, I'll find something in the FSM to send him.

The pinout is in the FSM in the section dealing with the Consult-II port, Alex. If you can't find it, I'll send it to you this weekend.

Nope. They just said it was "different", so they couldn't simply change just the baud rate. However, they said they're working on an OBD-II version, which would work for all 96+ cars.

No thanks Bruce, this post is pretty old.

Sorry Bruce about this...reason I posted this was because I am looking to get some kind of OBD-2 scanner or software that will allow mw to see what is going on in the car (engine) and I have been doing a lot of searching. I am interested in getting an AutoTap but that is a lot of money. I am hoping to find one in some other for salw forums.

Hey Menacer,

I think I've done this research for you. This is as inexpensive as it gets. $122

http://www.obd-2.com/paypal.html

I even considered the otion of assembling a unit myself. But building the cable yourself and the risk of using an incompatible free software too much risk vs cost.

Thank you Woosh, I think this is what I might end up getting. Especially since a few org members have it and since it is $78 dollars cheaper than the autotap. But I am going to wait a little while before I make up my mind. Just out of curiosity does this Obd-2 by Alex Pepper tell you how many degrees of KR the car is getting. My cousin can see that on the autotap. This is to all of you that have this software. Thanks again. I appreaciate it.

KR basically engine knock. I will ask my cousin if I can take a pic of the Autotap in action. And all the parameters he sees.

Menacer:
Which version does your cousin own? the $200 version or the $300 version with the enhanced manufacturer codes.

I asked him the same question and he told me that he has the regular version. He got his from another member of clubGP.com and at the time he got it, there wasn't an enhanced version. What do you think the enhanced version is? I would probably buy the AutoTap but I'll a little worried that it won't work for the maxima, well it has to do more with the fact that it seems as if more members have the Alex Pepper OBD-2 software/scanner than the AutoTap.

Hey Menacer,

I think the one you need is the chrysler and import vehicles one. Our cars use the ISO 9141-2 standard. If they say it supports that. Then it should work no prob. I think Kev has this unit.
