Redesigned Maxima for 2003?????

While shopping my 2001 Maxima SE AE around, considering a trade for a new vehicle, I was told the following:
"As you know the 2003 will be re-designed and could have an adverse effect on the market value of your current vehicle. Once the the new model hit the lots your current vehicle will take a nose dive." When will the new Maxima appear? What do you think?

Well, if the new Max DOES in fact come out in 2003 as an 04 model or whatever, then yes, your car will lose resale value. That holds true for any vehicle when the body style changes. No body wants to buy a "new car" that is from the old body style. That's why the dealerships are busting their ***** right now to move out all the 02's before it's too late. Nissan HQ is telling them to do so. ($2000 cash back....enough said).

Now, the question is this: Are they going to release the new build this summer or next spring or what? With the Z having it's big unvealing, and a new plant in the U.S. they may push it back a little. Basically you may have another 1/2 year or more before you have to worry about it. Once the word gets out though, look out.
Part of the reason the 02 has 255hp is to make it closer to the redesign's HP. I've seen tons of auto makers do this. Look for the new max to have closer to 300. (280 would be my guess..or just under the Z)

Don't know how to tell you guys this, but the 2002=2003. The 2004 is the "next gen" Max and will be out early next year.

Do a search! we all know that the 2003 is nearly the same as the 2002 except for some added packages already!

Look for the next gen Max soon. Whether it is a 2004 or a 2003 1/2 is anybody's guess. It should be stronger than the current one (gotta make sure there's a difference in speed and power over the "smaller" sibling Altima). Oh and about 10 new models from Nissan and Infiniti combined are coming in the next few years. And look for everything else to get redesigned too.

I actually think the '99 maxima has a really good resale value. It was the last year for that body style, and many people really liked that style (I for one). That's why when I bought my 2k2 I wasn't bothered at all that a redesign was (supposedly) happening for the following year. I wanted the "last" purely Japanese assembled Maxima, and think even with a new style the 2k2 (or 2k3, as it goes now) will hold it resale value very well.

But what do I know, it's all about how reliable it is and how the public perceives it.

In searching around for info on parts compatibility I found this thread and your post. I have already seen that the engine is slightly different as well as a few body and interior mods but as far as a comprehensive listing, do you know where to look? My 01 Max with many new parts was just totaled and I am looking for some good info as I kept her for salvage for my new {to me} 2003
2001 3.0/2003 3.5 .

I'm thinking of things like alt, starter, battery, struts, ECM, sensors, cats, etc... The many things I replaced over the last year.

Well, we do always complain that people don't use the search function before asking a question don't we?
