THIS IS A LONG ONE!!
I donno guys... Heh Heh...I'm tickled to death!
I thought about you FORUM guys today as I laughed at the incident that happened.
Me and the gang are cruzin Hwy 75 headed for Brasstown Bald Mountain (North Georgia) when the unthinkable happend.

I in my max, chucky in the 300ZX and Quincy in the CLK430. Out of the rear view mirror comes this silverish Acura sedan. He pulls up to Quincy and blows his horn repeadidly. I could see clearly that it was a CLS because of the logo.
Suddently he steps on it an swurves over in front of the 430. IT WAS ON THEN!!! We call it ROLL TIME!!

Both cars took OFF on this very twisting hwy at full throttle and so did chucky and I. Mind you, this felt like a page from a James Bond movie as the CLK quickly caught and put the CLS in check, as did the 300ZX on the winding s-curve road. My turn to try and pass the CLS while accelerating out of the curve and I was suprised at how the max-se suspension tighten as I pulled up to the rear door of the CLS myself...an then it happened. Right in front of my eyes and my bumper this great big blob of trailing light grey smoke gushed out of the Acura's rear end and it quickly lost power and came to a standstill. I pulled over as a good samaritan to see what had gone wrong. Out comes a blond headed guy with this 6 foot amazon of a woman...Boy! she was fine.
In the air was the smell of a fried transmission as evident under the hood! Yep!! a $33,300 CLS only one month old an FRIED on a JOYRIDE in the mountains!!
I ask the guy if he was driving in auto mode but he said the car was in the manual shift mode, and has always performed effortless since he had it. hmmmm maybe that 2-way tranny is not suitable for those s-curve driving conditions. Anyway I called and got them a towtruck. Chucky and Quincy could not stop snigglin so they stayed at a distance. I went over to check my auto-tranny but all I could smell was natural engine fragrance, and I smiled and started to chuggle thinking about how I would tell the forum about this beloved car, the CLS...up in smoke. But Hey!! it happens to the best of us. But he had the GIRL!!! Boy was she fine!!!

Hehe....An interesting turn of events. Honda has never been known for their auto transmissions....I guess that proved it . Man, it sucks to be the guy in the CL. Oh well though...

Speaking of Honda trannies. What does it mean when you drive in D3 or D4? I drove a friend's Accord one time and he told me to put in D3. Is there any performance differences between D3 or D4?

D3 will hold gears a little longer thatn D4, and will not shift into 4th. D4, well it's all the gears.
