Electrical/Audio Questions

Hey guys, I posted a couple of these questions when I joined, but didn't get a response, so I thought I'd try again...I also have a new question.

1. I have the Bose system, and would like to replace the subwoofer with a better one. I have heard this is possible with the new Bose system. I don't want anything that will take up my truck, just something with a bit more thump than the stock unit.

2. My check engine light "glows" at night. It isn't really on (like self-check when engine is started), but it glows. I am assuming that it is doing it in the daytime too, but it just can't be seen. You can usually make it go off or get more dim by turning on the headlights and the a/c. However, if you tach up the engine above 2k while everything is on, then it gets pretty bright again. I took it to the dealer and (suprise) they were not able to duplicate the problem. This stupid little thing has been on since the first night I bought the car and is getting annoying. Help please!

3. Is there any way to bypass or adjust the thermostat(s) that control the seat and steering wheel heat on a Meridian Edition Max? I would really like my seats to stay on whenever the switch is pressed, and the same goes for the steering wheel. Anyone know of fixes?

Thanks...and LOVING the new Max!

I just saw on another thread that Thicknes is using a free-air in his deck. Maybe you can check with him. Maybe your light is picking up "noise" from something else. If you're feeling daring go behind the dash and make sure the wires to the light/harness/cluster aren't bare in any spots.

I added a sub to my system very easily, and posted some info about it. Try a search, it's been a popular thread.

It's quite easy, and so far everything is great.

For future reference, Thicknes is a she.

I too added a couple of subs to my stock system. Very easy to do.

Yes, I have the same glowing "Service Engine Soon" light at night. I have yet to be able to see it during the day. I noticed it the first time I drove it at night. Although, I have told my dealer about this, I have yet to bring it in. It's good to know at least one other person is seeing this.

Cheers

Well at least I know it's not just me! My service manuals (volumes 1 through 3) arrived today, so maybe I'll be able to figure this out. Thanks!

I have the same problem with my 2k2, i got a glowing SES thats not on fully but dimly indicated.

When you turn the ignition to on but without the engine running, the SES is on bright, but when you are driving at night with the headlights on or off, you can see the faint glow..

ANYBODY FIND ThE SOLUTION??

I have discovered that the easiest way to add a sub to your Bose it to just hack into your bose sub wiring. It is a 5 wire install. Power, ground, remote, speaker+, and speaker.

Just clip the harness running to your Bose "sub" halfway through. Splice in your wires and run them to your amp. Reconnect your Bose sub if you wish. You don't need RCAs or anything, so long as you have an amp with high level inputs.

You never have to pry off a panel or do anthing else. Granted, you won't be able to show off your cool 4 gauge wire running to your engine, but it works well and souns great for a super easy install.
