JIC's are installed!!

I'm so happy to be drving my Maxima now!! I got my car back on Friday morning and have been loving every moment of driving it. It's like driving a totally different car, serioulsy like night and day. I don't have any other suspension mods and my Blowtenza's are pretty bald in the front. The car is lowered a lot from stock, I didn't take measurements myself but I'd estimate an approximate 2.5-3" drop.

The best part is that my suspension is still totally driveable. I went out last night to LA where the roads are pretty crappy with 5 people total in my car and still had no problems. You can feel a difference from stock as it now feels nice and sporty. The upper mounts are pillow ball so the steering response is awesome! Camber is fully adjustable so no uneven tire wear. Unlike the Cattman coiovers which still cost a lot more you can have an upper strut bar. The shocks are 15 way adjustable with adjustment for compression and rebound so you can dial in your ride from comfortable to competition.

They retail for $1850 which is pretty pricey but you all know that I wouldn't charge you guys that! Email me at sales@berktuning.com for a quote.

Thanks,
Bryan

No noises whatsoever so far. I've heard that Cattman coilovers creak and moan over speed bumps and such but these are totally silent. I'll get pics up later tonight.

Adjustment for the front shocks can be done by just jacking the car up. On the bottom of the shock there is a **** the the shocks. The camber adjustment is on top. On the rear shocks they can be adjusted from the top of the shock from the inside of the car.

One more side note, they look freaking awesome. The website only has pics of the cheaper sets but the new FLT-A2 sets have gold anodized shock bodies, red anodized components, and purple springs. It looks hot, trust me. I'll get pics up!!

Pics PLEEEEEEASE!!!! I hear a Group Buy coming?

Questions:

1)Is there a WARRANTY and if so how long? Who do we deal with for warranty issues, you or ???

2)Are the struts rebuildable, if so, how and where do we get parts?

3)Are they a direct fit or do we have to cut/modify the bumpstops/mounts/etc.?

4)How are the perches adjustable? Do you have to remove the wheels to get to the "collars"?

5)Is a Group Buy possible?

6)What is the MAXIMUM drop possible?

7)How much gap(roughly in fingers or BETTER in pics!) did you have when you drove with 5-people and did it bottom out?

Thanks, I'm VERY interested, but I might want another review or two from someone who's NOT actually selling them, no offense.

1)Is there a WARRANTY and if so how long? Who do we deal with for warranty issues, you or ???

Due to the extreme nature of competition shocks such as these warranty is 90 days. If you were to see how thick these pistons are you'll see how impossible it would be to bend these shocks. Thick bump stops also prevent the suspension from bottoming out.

2)Are the struts rebuildable, if so, how and where do we get parts?

You would not want to take these appart!

3)Are they a direct fit or do we have to cut/modify the bumpstops/mounts/etc.?

Direct fit. Total replacement to stock suspension. The stock springs/shocks come out, and the JIC goes in.

4)How are the perches adjustable? Do you have to remove the wheels to get to the "collars"?

You can jack up the car and get to them for the fronts and rears. In some cases you may have to take the wheels off.

5)Is a Group Buy possible?

It is coming!

6)What is the MAXIMUM drop possible?

Slammed.

7)How much gap(roughly in fingers or BETTER in pics!) did you have when you drove with 5-people and did it bottom out?

Right now I have the fronts at 1.5 fingers and the rear at 1 finger. I have not bottomed out yet.

Thanks, I'm VERY interested, but I might want another review or two from someone who's NOT actually selling them, no offense.
I'm planning on showing up to the So cal meets and having some people test drive my setup.

Thank you!!

More questions:

1)What do you do when the struts wear out? Can you just replace them or do you have to send them into JIC?

2)Is a local tire shop going to be able to align these or are they going to be dumbfounded by the complex looking top mount?

I received your email reply but I figured it would be better to ask the questions here so that everyone can know the answers to them.

My biggest questions is how low (inches please) can the car be lowered with these and how high. On JIC's website it say's they lower between 1.5-2 inches, I was hopeing it would be able to go down atleast 3 inches. Please let me know the info on this. The pics you emailed me looked very nice but I would really need to see what the car looks like from the outside lowered all the way before buying these.

What type of paympents do you except? Do you except credit cards?

Thank you

You NEED to be the FIRST guinea pig!

You would be invaluable in giving your comparison against the AGX/H&Rs you currently have as far as ride quality.

Just to make you aware of you compitions so you can make acurate comments, cattmans can run a f. strut tower bar and they have adjustments on top not the bottom of the shock, and also have full camber adjustment.

Plus they have SWEET looking(at least before they're painted) billet overtower mounts which add ~1-3/4" of suspension travel, so you can go even lower without bottoming out.

Also, Cattman mentioned he's working on a simpler coilover design that has less parts and SHOULD be around $1300. They will first be based on the 4th gen AGXs, but later they will be based on the 5th gen AGXs once they're available which will lower the cost even more.

Hopefully, by August I'll have plenty of reviews by people and be able to actually have a choice on a quality suspension system.

Very true but even painted they look hot, and to me the only problem is a little noise from the rear when your on horrible roads, which to me ( I may be wrong) is easliy fixable by cattman with some take up springs for the rear.

I think all quality coilovers need "helper springs" to keep the main springs from moving around when the body lifts over bumps, especially speed bumps.

I thought that the Cattman had that huge metal "thing" on top of the shocks for camber adjustments which don't allow for a strut bar? I dunno, I've never seen them in person. Cattman's are nice either way tho.

Those are the overtower mounts. Supposedly, they will accept a FSTB, but I haven't seen one yet.

Anymore answers to emax95s' and my questions?

Like dude said it is a raised mount...it has the shock adjustments on it along with camber adjustment..the bar firts right under it ( I have both)...also it gives more strut travel and illiminates the need for bumpstops so even you don't have to feel that bump when the suspension reaches its full travel.

To my knowlege, they would have to be replaced.

2)Is a local tire shop going to be able to align these or are they going to be dumbfounded by the complex looking top mount?

I wouldn't ever trust my car to normal service station types or national chain stores. Those are the worst of the worst mechanics in most cases. Go to your local speed shop and ask them who does good work and knows their way around performance tuned cars.

3)How low is "slammed"? 3+ inches? On the tires?

The suspension can be lowered past the point of driveability, not that you would ever want they except maybe for a show.

here is a link to the pics. I don't have any full shots yet but I will by the end of the week. I measured how low my car was and the top of the wheel well to the ground on the front and rear is 26in.

Au Contraire! There is always a SoCal meet in the planning, and if not, we will improvise!

May 18th we're going to Carlsbad Raceway to run our cars..

In the meantime there's a mini meet at least once a week.

Check out the west coast forum for details

hey i noticed something on the pic with the camber plate. The black OEM plate that's bolted on there, isn't that suppose to be down the other way? There is a hole on the body of the car for the little pin to go in. Do you know what i mean?
