A mag posted the 0-60 times before... I think it's ~7.5 while 1/4 mile is 15.6 (don't know what type of tranny). Don't quote me on these numbers.

 

Watch out for those SVT Contours......Even stock they are pretty quick. A stick Maxima should not have a big problem though.

 

Raced a silverish blueish back inthe spring from the red light onto the freeway up to 120mph in my '99-SE auto. Kicked my butt for a minute (about 4 car lenghts ahead of me) until I surpassed 100mph... that's when suddently the maxima had taken enough and started to drift up to his rear door, then I started braking after 120MPH as I saw traffic ahead. SVT Contour is very light for that torquey engine an their suppose to reach 140MPH. Yes, they do have a FORUM for those cars also!!!!

 

Do you think my mods will make up for the weight--The only mod he has is a intake.

 

I took one in my 96 Auto Stock *** Gxe, You might not believe it cause i didnt. They svt would gain a lil but not enuff to surpass me. I consistently kept a lead over him. Was a humongous lead but still. I think the 5 speeds should rip them so go out there and show your friend whats up with the maximas.

 

But the SVT handles and stops better stock vs stock.
In my house we have a stock 98 SVT Contour (less HP than the new ones) and a 96 Max SE, both 5spds. Max has FSTB, RSB, springs, struts, UDP, new wheels/tires. The max now handles better, but the ride is "jarring" in comparison.
SVT revs quick, but needs to since torque is up high.

Hey MisterMaxx, your '96 max has a stronger reving engine than my '99-se auto. a good reason why you were able to keep an edge on him.I use to to own a '96-auto GXE...man what a strong *ss engine. Hey! door handle to door handle the '96 auto -GXE would indeed beat a '99 auto GXE probbly by a good car length.

 

just raced my first one the other day...i had 3 other people in my car (~~=500lbs. extra (+my 150lb. system)) and i tied him...it was just him...no other people, no system...if i didn't have anyone else in the car i would have smoked him...same thing happened against a cl type-s last night...i had the same 3 people in the car and we both pulled up next to each other and floored it...once we hit about 90-100 he started to slowly pull on me...just one person in the cl-s and the same extra 500lbs in my car...i need to race by myself more often...you can actually feel a big difference w/ that weight...in about a week i plan on taking out my system and seeing if it's worth it (if so...maybe i'll sell it)
