I got a JL AUDIO 12W3 & 500/1 Question help!!

Hey guys,

I got a 2000 Maxima GXE, I just bought and got installed 2 jl audio 12w3's and a 500/1 jl audio amp, and the problem was they said that the stock deck didn't have enough to be pumping the subs. What is the deal with this, the subs sound ****ty at the moment, he said they are booming at 25% capacity? He recommended one of two things, a really good... I don't remember, i think its a LOC like a low power pusher or something like that, or a new deck. He recommended me to simply get a new deck, because that LOC device would cost me 100$. But if I go with a new deck do I got to change out all my speakers too? I remember from a post that if you change out the maxima deck, we got to change out all the inner speakers as well? (remember I do got a GXE) The guy told me I didn't have a bose system, that it was something else, so if this is true then that rule don't apply to me right? Someone please help, I am really confused, and all my stuff isn't hitting no where near as hard as it should be? HELP!

Sounds like BS to me, especially from the datasheet at jl's website.
http://www.jlaudio.com/amps/pdfs/500_1.pdf (read under Switchable Input Range). I bet they are just trying to milk more money out of you. Also, the answer is no to regarding having to replace all the speakers in your car.

Sounds like you have a voltage problem. How did you wire your amp to your deck? Did you use a line output converter or high level inputs? Or did you just hack into the Bose wiring?

With the 5th gen, from my knowledge, you do not have to replace the speakers...4th gen is a different story.

oops disregard that part about the not changing or changing of the speakers, lol.... just need to know to get a line output converter (new one - 100$) or a new deck? What would make it sound right or a lot better.

Get a new deck. Cleaner signal with no distortion. Look into lines of Alpine and Eclipse.
