Sap attack

Sap attack
I was looking at my Max in the garage last night as I came in from playing with my daughter in the driveway, and noticed that the entire car is covered in sap. Literally, from front to back, all surfaces with any horizontal exposure (including the front and rear glass) are covered with thin, pencil-eraser diameter blobs of sap. I couldn't have gotten this much sap on if I'd applied it with a paint brush.
I'm going to try a regular wash tonight and see if the body shampoo I use will cut through it. If not, any advice? I checked the 'Cleaning' thread and saw some suggestions that appeared to be geared more towards individual little blobs of sap, not an entire car coated in it. Will a clay bar bring it up if my normal cleaner doesn't?
I haven't had a chance to wax the car since I got it in late January, so the sap is currently sitting directly on the clear coat.
