If it was on there for a while, it may have gone through the clear coat and damaged the paint. The next step would be to try some compound, then maybe some fine grit sandpaper, and then repainting the area.

Go to Pep Boys, Autozone, AAP, etc. and get the "BUG AND TAR" spray. I think it's in a green bottle, but they may have changed the packaging.
If that doesn't work, go to the hardware store and get some PAINT THINNER. Pour some in a small container and add some cold water, then use a soft cloth to apply to the sap.

1st step.
Go to pep boys or whatever. buy 3M Rubbing compound. if you have a buffer then use the buffer if not use ur hand. it should make the sap come off a little. if not then take
1500 WET sand paper
Put lots of water on the spot.
Put water in the bucket and wet the sand paper.
Gently and evenly rub the spot(use a wooden block to hold the sand paper). Make sure there is plenty of water on the WET sand paper and the car.
It will a hazy paint. DONT WORRY
Go to a bodyshop and ask them to buff the spot for you. Give the guy like 10-15bucks.
ur all done.
the 3M will make the spot better so u dont have to go though all that **** I told you about.
good luck.

Otherwise, bug and tar remover or paint thinner should work great as well.

Sandpaper is something I'd stay away from, with frail Nissan paint.

I'd try "Bug and Tar Remover" first, letting it sit on it for a few minutes. If that doesn't work, I'd try a clay bar (may not work on tree sap, but it will get paint overspray off). Compound is a good idea from someone. Wet sanding would do it, but would definitely be my last resort. Have you called a local detail or body shop? They'll probably know something real good.
