2K2 Auto vs Sentra Spec V
Granted, yes it does handle awesome stock. But i fail to see what's up with the first post. I'm not out to attack you, just trying to understand what's up with all this commotion.

Anyways back to the subject. I found the first post funny!

Anyone noticing how a lot of Maxima owners are "upgrading" to 330s. Even a Max owner with an SC is getting 330. Because he can afford it!

with your intake/chip I'm sure it'll be a sleeper in the 1/4--come on, don't tell me you haven't ran it yet
The last time I checked the car themselves don't go 0-60/1/4 mile or turn lap times. It's Car + the driver. So unless the 330 owner can come up with some timeslips of his own, why argue??
So what if you modded, stock the 330i is not that impressive.

BTW, I'm ignoring the flame war. Let the mods handle it.
Lets talk Max vs Spec V......
I love running at the 1/4 mile track. I enjoy beating cars there too and even my own times, but the real track (road race....or more commonly autocross) is where the driver skill is paramount. I beat several S2000s and even a couple of modded WRXs on the autocross course in my stock 2002. THE 2002 MAXIMA HANDLES BETTER???? NO!!! It was clearly skill on my part (stands for applause). Now had I been driving the S2000 or WRX....it would have been over.
I drove a Spec V and wasn't too impressed. I guess I'm just used to a larger more powerful car in my 6spd. Given equal drivers, a Spec V would kill a Max in autocross....but in the world of competitive driving...the world is rarely equal.

Also, let's stop the Nissan family feud!...Please
I love my brothers 330Ci - it runs nice (modded now - even faster), and handles great... What I really like about it is that it has a TON of legroom for the driver. BUT, it was also 2x the price of my car (I got my Max used), and is that much extra power and better handling really worth it? There really is no comparing the two - just like there is no comparing the Max with the Spec V - these are not nearly the same cars. In each car's class and price range - I'd say they all fare very well... And they all have a specific market.. I wanted a bigger 4 door car with a stick and some power, and I didn't want to pay $40K. So that's why I bought the Max... And people buy Bimmers cause they can and they want to... Pretty simple to me...
Spec V vs 2K2 Max
Not for nothing, but when 2 owners meet in the real world and wanna go at it, 1/4 mile times arent a factor, what is a factor, is which driver wants it more, and who will drive thier car more effectively. IMHO Spec Vs arent anything i own a modded 2k Max and i whooped a Spec V in and out lanes plus down a straight away. All he could do was watch my tails...
02 Spec V Owner: Looks and realizes Maximas are fast
00 Maxima Owner(Me): Drives into the afternoon with a kill!
End Of Story.

Imagine what would happen happen if there were corners involved?

Re: Re: Re: 2K2 Auto vs Sentra Spec V
Hey Guys,
I'm probably going to the track this weekend and will have an opportunity to run against a Spec-V. It's my friend's brother car. He just got it this month, no mods (yet). I'm also trying to get my other friend to run his 99 AV6. I'm helping him install a CAI this weekend.
I've got a berk intake, but after ready some of the threads, I'm not sure if it really provides any gains. I think one member posted a .1 slower 1/4 time after installing the intake
. But, I love the sound and the throttle response, I also think I feel more power.
My friend's brother (spec-V) is intimidated by my Max, but I told him he got a lot of other advantages, like weight and manual transmission.
This will be our first time running our cars so I'm not sure what the outcome will be. I didn't plan on running against him (spec-V), but I think we'll do it because 1) it's our first time to the track and 2)we're curious in seeing what our cars can really do.
I'll let you guys know what happens. BTW, I've searched and found some really good threads on tips at the track. Thanks!!!

Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: 2K2 Auto vs Sentra Spec V
The Maxima tires do suck, but even with good tires on the Max and full suspension it will have a hard time keepin gup with a SPEC-V in the turns. My car handles better than a fully bolt on suspension maxima (4th gens wise). So go figure and I am stock.

Probably handle almost as good as a stock spec V if the max had have decent tires.
I wonder how the sentra would do with those same mods?

From the looks of it there aren't many Spec V sold yet let alone going to the track. Also please explain how the maxima outbrakes the spec v, will be more modable, and how the maxima will beat the spec v on a real race track...you know one with corners??

I can't help myself from participating in this stupid thread...

straight out of a sentra owner's mouth.
It won't out handle or out brake an SE-R, but why don't we compare your 330i to a miata. Yeah. DUH it's a different type of car. He's got 1000 lbs less of mass to stop and fling around a corner.
Oh, i'd also like to mention, that at every autocross and road race event I've been to there's been some hot shot with a brand new BMW who thinks that the 'ultimate driving machine' will automagically imbue him with ultimate driving powers. I end up lapping these guys and they end up going off the track or plowing cones all day.
Maxtor, do you live anywhere near the west coast? If so I'd like you to put your money where your mouth is and take it to any track you want, even one with corners. I'll race ya
