Mnnn....not sure I would want to do this,

the VQ already has amongst the quickest throttle responses & least rotational inertia than ANY other engine I've ever driven -including the much-vaunted, supposedly free-revving BMW straight sixes.
Blip the throttle on a Max in neutral versus a Bimmer...you'll see what I mean

There are more than a few guys here on the org with lightened flywheels in the earlier generations and they all seem to love the change or at least the guys I talked to.

always room for improvement.

A bit pricey for 6 hp........ My K&N Intake was $60 and that gave me the same output......

6hp is a rather conservative estimate. Think of it this way a stock flywheel is about 24lbs and this one is estimated at 11 just the weight savings alone will give you increased power!

There is A LOT more to it than that! You need to include INSTALLATION for the flywheel, since I don't believe this is an easy install for a DIYer.

Your comparing a supposed "6hp" at peak power(~6400rpms), whereas the flywheel will be ACROSS THE ENTIRE POWERBAND(idle to redline). Also, the car will rev faster, which means the car will pull harder and accelerate faster.

There are more pros/cons, but those are MY main reasons for choosing yes/no.

Definately not an easy install!

NE1 who says a flywheel will increase HP

is spamming you. A lighter flywheel will reduce the rotational mass and improve throttle response but HP is a direct result of:
a) how much fuel you can cram into the engine (hence intakes)
b) how efficiently can you burn the fuel/air mixture (hence timing/ECU upgraded)
c) how efficiently can u scaveng the exhaust from the engine (hence exhausts mods)
d) how much compression the engine has (hence turbos, superchargers.
e) reducing parasitic drag (hence UDPs)

Flywheels increasing HP..yeah right..whatta load of snake-oil BS

Re: NE1 who says a flywheel will increase HP

Technically, it frees up some horsepower.

I'm pretty sure we meant more hp to the wheels, not flywheel hp.

Same thing going with UDP and lighter equal size rims.
