when im in first gear at about 4k rpms and i let off the gass, i feel a tapping kind of feeling from under the car. when you let off the gas, you feel that jumpy feeling and when it gives that feeling thats when i hear and feel the tapping/grinding kind of noise. it also does it a little bit in 2nd, and if im making a turn and downshift when im about to turn at 20 mph or so, i also feel it.. any idea what it could be? clutch, tranny? thanks in advance

Would you say it is a very rapid tapping? I had a problem with my '91 5 speed that sounds like what you're describing but it was a very fast tapping sound. It turned out to be the front bearing in the transmission. What year is your car? My service guy also told me 3rd Gen maximas were prone to break exhaust manifold bolts after 100,000 miles and that problem sounds like a rapid tapping also. Hope this helps.

its a 2002 and it only has 1000 miles on it... when you let off the gas even at a pretty low rpm you feel it.. when the car bucks it does it then stops then does it with the bucking.. it sounds a little like a tapping noise but sometimes a little more of a grinding noise. i called nissan and they told me to bring it in monday (figures) and i told the guy i dont want to drive the car for the weekend and make it worse. he told me to bring it in and one of the tech's will check it out and let me know if its ok to drive it
