OT Question about dynomometer testing

I did a search and was not able to find anything specific to my question. I'm considering getting my car dyno'd, mostly for the fun of it but also as a basis if I decide to go to the next level of modification. I've read a few postings where people have mentioned ambient temperature as a significant factor (affecting the air/fuel mixture and the engine). Can the affects of temperature being taken into account during testing? What other effects should I be concerned with (obviously the temperature of the engine is a factor)? To what extent does the affect of temperature have on the reading?

I did find a website that sells dynomometers but they don't provide this level of detail. I'd be curious to see an operating manual for one of these machines. Any help is appreciated. Thanks.

Just tell then you want "SAE corrected" graphs/numbers.

Also, make sure they run it in the right gear. 3 for auto, 4 for manual (i think)

4th versus 5th

Thanks. I have the 6speed, so wouldn't it be 5th? I could see not using an overdrive gear but I thought 5th was still under. Thanks

Refer to gregs dyno post yesterday. I am pretty sure he said 4th. He has a 2k2.

5th and 6th are actually both overdrive gears on the 6spd so you'd want to still have it in 4th.

I had not realized that 5th was over (I frequently use it for passing).

IIRC, 1-5 on the 6spd are pretty much the same ratios as the old 5spd, just with an extra gear up top for better mileage and more relaxed cruising.

5th is a short enough overdrive (0.80:1) and the VQ has so much torque that most of the time on the highway I don't even need to downshift out of 5th to pass somebody either. Hell, it's spunky enough that I can usually beat out ricers without downshifting too! SUV's too!
