If you are talking straight up race than the r/t makes ALL the diff.
I will race ANYBODY 3 times and if I don't beat you off the line at least 2 times I'll feel like $hit! I could get beat every time and still feel great if I beat ya off the line! just my $.05

Youre right, but all 3 times I lined up, I could car less about the car next to me, well, the riced out Civic was a target for me.... I took him by at least 2 cars, and he had no interior.... Then he dogs me when we came around.... ... I promise I'll work on that RT next time !

I haven't had a chance to clean my car yet and every time I shut a door or trunk the dust FLIES!!!!

Thanks for the compliments Kloogy!!!! I still think your color (white) looks best in the 2K2 body style. VERY sweet. BTW, has anyone ever discussed how much more leather interiors weigh than cloth???

I guess I'll leave that in your hands now. Read my other thread about getting rid of the Maxima in 5th gen.

Thats fine meet me at the track (sears point).

The reason i said my altima is just as fast cause it is.

If i can run a 14.3 both times i go to the track then that would make me just as fast or faster then some of you.

Well, this was my first time ever at a track. Notice how each run got better! This was with torque braking & manually shifting. I should've taken my sub box & spare tire out, aired down my tires, and used ice on my intake. There's always next time!

r/t 1.079
60 ft. 2.522
330 ft. 6.828
1/8 et 10.327
1/8 mph 70.710
1/4 et 15.949
1/4 mph 87.670

r/t 0.980
60 ft. 2.435
330 ft. 6.691
1/8 et 10.173
1/8 mph 71.040
1/4 et 15.739
1/4 mph 87.44

r/t 1.316
60 ft. 2.306
330 ft. 6.593
1/8 et 10.094
1/8 mph 70.580
1/4 et 15.711
1/4 mph 86.530

On this 4th run they obviously screwed up. It felt like my best run yet...I wish they would have got it right just for my own info!

r/t 2.209
60 ft. 0.836
330 ft. 5.145
1/8 et 8.662
1/8 mph 70.420
1/4 et 14.299
1/4 mph 86.200

That kind of wheelhop is torture on your drivetrain

You will get the best et's possible, but that's murder on your car. If you guys keep that up, you will destroy one or more of the following:
Halfshafts
Wheel bearings
motor mounts
tranny mounts
struts
tie rod ends (inner and outer)
ball joints

Not to mention a few other things..

I know the car runs faster with a really aggressive launch, and wheelhop may be the result of such launches. But you guys really need to be careful. The front ends of the Max are not as durable as you might think. 255 hp is a lot to put into a FWD vehicle, and these launches will eat up your cars in short order.

I really wouldn't want to keep your car more than 50-60k if it's been subjected to this kind of use on any regular basis.

I spent big bucks on my 4th gen automatic, replacing most of the parts I just mentioned, partially due to my track usage.

Re: That kind of wheelhop is torture on your drivetrain

Obviously , if we go "RACING" we are expecting that certain level of abuse will come to the car ..... Ive broken Motor mounts, driveshafts, exhaust brackets, clutches, etc .... when I had my Stang, and T/A...... As far as the "Gaunlet" being thrown down from an Altima. I will give appropriate praise to him, when he posts a 14.3 . But no matter what time the Alty runs, that hideous material they use on your interior , compared to the Maxx will still be there. There is a reason the Maxx say " Flagship " on it. I also dont visit Altima boards and worry aboout what they are doing.

This sounds like so much fun. Where did you guys go? I don't have Max (just a sibling) but I would like to join you guys in the fun. How long did all the run and meet take? Mind if I chug a long next time?

We met at 12:30, and then drove near the track. We met Chinkzilla there. We raced from about 1Pm to 6 pm. We were sharing helmets, so it took long between runs. Next time I'll have a helmet. Takes less time......Anyone is welcome. I will post our next track meet at least one month in Advance. Check the West Coast Forum.. That's were the meets are posted...
