Stereo trim and SE light pics....

http://www.cardomain.com/id/cwally

Some people had wanted to see the factory single din stereo trim that is attached to the vents so I took some pics on page 3. It is different than the other single din kits.

I also installed the SE lights on my car on page 2.

Let me know what you guys think...

I went straight to Nissan. I told them I wanted the AC vents for a 2000 Maxima GXE with the single din cassette player. Because the trim is actually attached to the AC vents. It is one large piece. And also tell them that you want the pocket.

so it comes with the AC vents? wow didn't know that. How much was it? (I'm so tempted to go out and get it right now) I'm worried those punks at the dealership won't know what "AC vents for a 2K Maxima w/ the single din cassette player". thanx man.

Yeah it is the AC vents and the trim. Make sure you tell them to look for the AC vents, not stereo trim. I know that in 2000 they had a basic model with just the cassette player, and someone on the forum said they had looked for the stereo trim piece and couldnt find it, but you have to look for the AC vents. I don't remember what I paid for it cuz I bought it like a couple of days after I bought the car, but someone on the forum said they also bought it for like $80 including the pocket, but I am not sure. i wish I had the part number.

How are you going to keep the back end from lifting off the ground when you hit highway speeds??

Looking good

The SE tails do look sweet. They'll look even better when you take the orange bulbs out and put the clear ones in.
Did you notice any vibration when you got the wheels? Do you have hubcentric rings?
Nice car

Nice car man! I love your trunk set up. I was going to do something similar. Did you do that yourself? Or did you have somebody do it?

No I didn't get any vibration from the wheels, and I did not have to use hubcentric rings.

Dusty, Hobert and THE KNITE thanks for the props. I saw the clear lights in your car KNITE, and I think I will do that next along with the street scene grill.

SsiMaxima, I actually had a friend of mine do the install here in San Diego. They fiberglassed the spare tire well, and you see the rest. Thanks for the props.

Hey cwally

I called the dealership today and he told me I don't need to purchase the AC vents just the stereo kit. He also said that there is only a GXE model (which will work fine in other models) that contains the single din, etc. Hopefully he was talking about your stereo kit and said it was only $25. I will drop by the dealership tomorrow to make sure it's the right one. Here's what mine looks like.

only thing i like about it is the pocket size which is smaller.

Hopefully he was talking about the same one and not trying to sell you what you have. I will go in the mean time also and try and get the part number for what I have...

Does this friend own a shop? Or is he just good at what he does? Since I am on the east coast, it would be hard for me to come and see him to chat about this. Do you think I would be able to contact him via email or telephone to talk about this? Maybe he can give me some pointers?

Part Number....

Ok everyone... Here is what happened. I went to the delaer today and we looked up the part number. He gave me the pocket number first and this is it. Part # 68475M. We had a harder time looking for the AC vents and we came up with this part number which was Part # 66590. This, he told me, was the part for the AC vents and trim. He did not have one in stock, but he assured me this was it I hope this helps everyone. And Trunksu I think that he is going to sell you something like what you have, b/c this one costs a little more than 25 dolla. If I have time or if anyone else wants to call Courtesy or Tustin to get the price for both of these parts that would be awesome. If not I will call tomorrow.

cwally, That single din setup looks tite...I think that's what I'll go with. Only problem is, I was planning to install a woodgrain dash kit with tons of pieces. Do you know if there's a dash kit piece made to fit that new vent/stereo trim?

I believe there is a kit for it. Only problem is it consists of two pieces and not one whole piece. One piece covers the vent, and the other is like in the shape of a U and covers the bottom part. The only thing is that unless you get it really close, I think you will be able to see a line between the two pieces. But there are some kits that only sell the vent piece, and that radio piece does not have anything.

Prices...

Ok everyone I called and got the prices. The pocket runs $19.96 and the vent with the trim piece runs $88.28 They are not cheap, but they do provide an exact match to the rest of your dash and interior. I hope this helps everyone. Oh and if you call to order the pieces, thos part numbers that I gave you are off illustration diagrams. One from the center console illustration and the other from the AC ventilation picture page. Just so that you can let whoever you are buying them from know where to look.

I think the TV reception is awesome... Better than most of the ones I have seen. But as far as hiding it, I don't have anyway.

well i went to the dealer today and after an hour he still couldn't find the vent with the trim pieces. He used the part numbers that you gave but on his computer it only showed a "pocket" for one (which is right) and an AC vent for the other...but JUST the AC vent. He looked everywhere but only found the AC vent. He also said that he's surprised that it HAS to come with the AC vent. any idea if i can purchase it online at Courtesy or anywhere else?

Hey dude... but that is the right part... That AC vent... The illustration shows no trim piece, it just shows the vent but that is the right piece. When you order it and get it, it will be the entire piece, AC and trim. I know because I went thru the same thing when I got mine. And if he looks at the SE and GLE vent part number will be different than the one I gave you making it different. But that is the right piece and part number. Tell him to order it. I know it shows the vent only, but it does come together with the trim, I have taken it off. And if you want, you can also go thru DaveB 800-251-7278.

yes... With THAT PART NUMBER that I gave you for the AC vent it is for a GXE model. Make sure you use that part number, and they will send you the AC vent that you need. and you also have to buy that pocket.

Just so you know Part # is 66590 it is off the Ventilator Diagram. This is the one you need.

This is what appears at the top of the diagram page that Nissan gave me.

i don't see why not. the center console is the same (at least from what i've seen). Of course if you have the nav system I would think you wouldn't want that kit.
