Need new tires...which one of these 3?

My Toyos have about 51K on them and I'm starting to getting a little queasy about them.

I called Nissan and they quoted me 195 apiece for the OEM Toyos...lol...

anyhoo he offered Cooper Cobras at 99 apiece (never heard of em...anyone else have?) Continental 115(didnt get model but I imagine it is a touring tire) or Goodyear RSA at 150 a pop.

That is all from dealer..

Town Fair Tire quoted me 99 apiece for the Dunlop SP Sport A2's.

judging by the prices fron the Tire Rack, the dealer is way high...big suprise.

Whats my best bet...moving from the Cape to NH so I want something decent in snow without getting Blizzaks etc. may not have car much longer so dont want Michelins or anything else expensive.

For all the grief I hear about the Toyos I can say they were good in the snow and hey...I'm getting 50k out of OEM tires...nice

That's about what you can expect from the dealer! Forget them.
I'm getting the Dunlop's very soon. They appear to be a good all around performer and is priced reasonably. That price you got from Town Fair is excellent. Tire Rack wants $105/tire.

I'm moving "down" from a performance tire (Dunlop 5000, W speed rating)to an H rated tire, hoping not to be terribly disappointed in the performance. They do have a 30 day satisfaction gaurantee, so I can get another tire if needed.
Good luck.

Of the ones you mentioned...

go Dunlop...

had them on my '93 Prelude and they were very good tires. Can't say anything about snow...don't have any here, but dry and rain, they did very well.

whoops...I spoke to soon about the Dunlops...

I checked today and now they want 139.99 apiece plus mounting..

Either I called on a special sale day when I called before or the guy looked up the wrong tires.....40 buck price increase in 3 months? I don't think so...

Man...bummer

Any one had experience with the Coopers?

I had them with RWL on my 70 Firebird...great for bleach burnouts

Did you ever say what size?
We'll for 235/45-17 Bridgestone Potenza RE950s are all season and the only tire of that size to come with a 40k warranty.
$150 each - I give high marks except for heavy snow.

On my 2K2 SE I have Bridgestone Potenzas. Is that abnormal? I didn't see any @ the dealer with Toyos.

Jim, if you have 215/55/16s you have

LOTS of tires to choose from...Michelin (various) Toyos, Yokohamas (various) Dunlops, Contis, many Bridgestones and more.

I would STAY AWAY from the Goodyear RSAs (had them once & they suck: harsh, poor wet grip) and Conti CH95s. Bought them to replace the RSAs...better but..much better tires out there.

If ride quality and price are your priorities I would go with the Yokohama Avid V4s or the Bridgestone Turanzas....these are helluva nice tires...I wish either were available in 225/50/17.

If more performance with reasonably good ride -at a great price- is what you're after there are the Kumho Ectsas and the Pirelli P6000s and the Bridgestone RE950.

If all-out performance regardless of price there's the Potenza SO3 Pole Position and the Dunlop SP9000s...I had these on my old BMW and they are awesome -but pricey.

Good luck

Anything but Kuhmos. And don't buy from the dealer.

Get the goodyear RSA's i have 215/55/16... They are pretty good tires in snow too! They also make a nice peeling out sound too!

RSA's are nice but a little loud on road noise. I recently swapped my wifes after 30k miles to the new Yokohama Db's. Still performance oriented but much quieter. Buy from Tire Rack or Discount Tire Direct and youll save many $$$$. Locals should still install them for around 10-15 each and you'll have saved plenty. She drives a Supercharged Regal GS so tire life is less do to the parking lot smokes.
