My point. Each person ask's their question in a different way and would like it answered differently from other answers.

Absolutely, because it is all part of the larger picture. Once you get the y-pipe, you can then replace your cat, change out the stock muffler, throw on a supercharger, lighten the flywheel, etc... The cumulative effect is what you're going for. For example, the y-pipe by itself will probably gain you about 12 horses, and a new muffler by itself might gain you 5, but combime them and you'll be looking at around 20-23. The whole really does become greater than the sum of its parts

Of course, you could stop right there with just the y-pipe and be happy. It's completely a personal decision as to how much you want to spend vs. how much you want to make your maxima distinctive.

Hope this helps.

If you look at my sig, you'll see that I obviously disagree with you, gentlemen. The fact is, much of the information lurkers and newbies seek is locked up in previously posted threads. And while some of the information will happily be regurgitated by those seeking to increase their status in the org, a great deal of it will not. The reason for that is that those with the most information get tired of repeating the same thing over and over again. So they slip away and let less informed people provide less accurate information. And what's really funny is when people post information that's just plain wrong!

For those who insist on hearing themselves speak, do yourselves and others a favor. At least have the courtesy at the end of your discourse to suggest that those asking a question for the upteenth time use the search function if they want to avail themselves of the most complete and correct information on the org. For some of you, doing so will be a wonderful exercise in expressing a little humility.

I agree with you on the fact that searching will find the answers to many basic questions. I do find it ironic, however, that you feel that giving a newb an answer to a basic question without telling him to search is post-whoring to gain .org status.

I have always thought the opposite. In my opinion, the people who jump into a thread and give no other advice but to use the search function (usually in a rude fashion) are the REAL post-******.

And be honest- when was the last time you did a search? Try it. With the plethora on incoherent subject lines like "question" and "I need help!", it takes a significant amount of time to find anything pertinent to your real question.

The questions like "Hi, what mods are available for my car?" and "My bose subwoofer is rattling" are not worthy of a response like "SEARCH YOU MORON". Some members (like you) are good about slapping them on the wrist by telling them to search, but at the SAME TIME, giving them a link to their real answer.....

Oh, and one more thing-

Some of us post more frequently than others, but not because we are trying to gain member status. It's because we have really, really boring jobs and helping out a newbie is better than watching the clock tick or make cold calls.

Frankly I could care less if I have a Maxaholic, Maximaniac, or a Maxipad. I just hate my life and I want to die.

Yes, I do try to do that for newbies and lurkers in order to get them started in using the search function. But it's amazing to me how many people with some tenure around here ask questions they should be able to find the answers to themselves. And I disagree that the search function isn't usable. It just depends on how refined you are in inputting the information you want to conduct a search on.

Your point about the fact that there's a lot of crap to go through when searching is precisely why we should try to limit the crap in the first place. We can do that by POLITELY encouraging people to use the search function rather than actively participating with them in piling the crap higher and deeper.

Well I can certainly understand that, asu174.
