Odometer Drawback

That reminds me...
Why does the dealer measure tire depth each time you go in for service? Is he verifying mileage? If not, why would he care how worn my tires are?
I'm just wondering if I should screw with him by switching tires.

Just wonder if they "have" to recommend tire service if its not within limits. Not sure they really track mileage acurately that way. If I did a lot of peel outs, it would not be accurate.

Don't forget you have to sign a document verifying the mileage is accrurate when you get ready to sell it or trade it in.

no..
there is not a way.
Mileage is stored in the ECU AND the speedo cluster. should you ever have to have one replaced, you will lose alot of resale.. most states require you to have notorized affidavit for selling a car with mismatching ODO.. anybody with scantool would see the problem, like when they took it in for service.
why you would want to bring that mess on yourself voluntarily is beyond me.. You stand to lose, caught or not. (by 'not' I mean they catch it, which they would like at the first OBD2 emissions check, and decide to press charges or not)

Actually, me dealer REFUSES any kind of service for tires. I had a problem tire that wouldn't hold air and they told me to take it to a local tire shop. If it was found defective they "might" be able to do something about it.
