Fastest Street Car

Has anyone seen that corvette featured on the last MotorTrend show? It was the fastest street car in existence (meaning that it was all legal). They had it race an F-18 Falcon (from a stand still)

Here are the specs:

0-60 mph in 1.97sec
1/4 mile in 9.28 sec
800 hp

That's just biz-illy!

Any pics? Were they running slicks to get a 0-60 that low?

Saw it -it's also somewhere over 150k

dollars...which I'm sure is an insignificant sum for some folks.

If I had unlimited moolah I would choose a Ferrari 465 any day. Yes not as fast but..who cares?? It's a Ferrari

I agree!

I think they quoted at $165K area price...

I don't care what the car can do, I would never of the mindset to drop that kind of $$$ on a Chevy.

The fastest one will be the Bugatti Veyron with 1001 hp and 922lb.ft of torque. 0-186 mph in 14 seconds, top speed of 250 mph. A beautiful beast. No price available at this time.....

What kind of mods are available for the Bugatti? I would like to get one and put on a Berk Tuning intake, Y pipe, Powertech muffler, and fuzzy dice.

Much cooler! MotorTrend should have pulled this car out against the factory boys and given them a run for their money. http://home.austin.rr.com/elitemotor...y--9-9-143.mpg

wasnt the McLaren F1 the fastest street car and it did 0-60 in 3.2?

going from 3.2 to 1.97 is a huge difference. im thinking the F1 didnt have slicks like this corvette had.

Yup...u know ur cars. McLaren F1

then closely followed by JaguarXK220 -named for it's everage speed over the Nardo 4-mile oval test track.
It actually averaged 218 but with the increased drag from the cornering top speed was calculated at 223 mph.
3.5 liter DOHC V6, twin-turbo, six-speed, aluminum everything and to this date the best looking (IMHO) supercar ever

Yeah. I saw the car. It is a Vette built by Lingenfelter, You LT1 guys know who he is ...... I have read about a Viper built by Hennessey , Called the Venom "something" that is supposed to lay down 9's with stock tires too..... As long as its not a Civic, it's ok with me !

Funny... I just watched the video for the 4th time to drool over the times on this vette. It came on the other night and I recorded it. The car is a Lenginfelder TT vette with the full work-up. They did not provide the exact HP but said it produced over 800 HP.

0-60 1.97 very sweet
1/4 9.28 This was with the TV driver. I think with a Lengingelder Rep behind the wheel they could cut at least half a sec off the clock.

TOP speed is est. 240

It is an impressive car, but I think we can see equal numbers from Full Boosted Supras. Maybe not the 1.9 0-60 but I think there are street legal Supras that can turn faster numbers on the 1/4.

Thoughts?

You are correct...it was the Porche 911 Turbo 3.6. 0-60 in 3.6

I don't think you would see any street legal Supras running faster times. Supras have to boost like 30 plus PSI to produce that kind of power, and run with 100 plus octane gas. Lingenfelter Strives on making his cars very streetable, and run on pump premium fuel. Go to his website, www.lingenfelter.com. Twin Turbo option for your ZO6 anyone?

Oh trust me a Fully tuned "street legal" Supra would murder a Lingenfelther Chorvette. JUN made built one that was pushing 1234HP top speed was estamated at 260. but they could only get 245 at Boneville

But how streetable is a 1234 HP Supra? John Lingenfelter has built and probably still does build 1000 plus HP 4 second 1/4 mile dragsters, but we are not talking about dragsters, we are talking street cars. According to Motor Trend or some car mag, can't remeber, he got his twin turbo Vette upto 225 MPH for the mag article, not too shabby. And he claims it will idle no different than stock. Check it out,

http://store.lingenfelter.com/pac550ttls1y.asp

Even comes with a 2 year warrenty. WHAT A DEAL!

I've seen the JUN car you're talking about, but I'm pretty sure it wasn't US street legal (as in passing CA emissions).

here it is...

it it can meet california emssions for use on public roads then it is street legal in the u.s.

didn't the 6spd twin turbo supra get outlawed in california?...and that thing was making about 300 plus ponies?

i remember the 212 mph lingenfelter corvette of '96... that one was a street legal daily driver... it was getting around 11 or 12 mpg on like 91 octane or something...
