This past weekend was my birthday and my girlfriend
Michele checked the Maxima site about the parts I've
been ranting and raving about. She called Southpoint
Nissan and spoke to David Burnette to order me the AE
chrome door sills and automatic shifter ****. At first
he told her it might take a few weeks, it turns out
they came in a little early and the turnaround on
Dave's part from that point on was great. He called
her several times to let her know the parts were in
and also helped her with several questions she had.
There also happened to be a shipping problem with
UPS (UPS screwed up) and they told her to call
Southpoint Nissan and have them call them (UPS) and
handle the situation. Once again, Dave was a great
help and made sure to call and keep us informed
on the outcome. After he called and solved the problem,
I received the package the next day. He even threw in
a couple of shirts.
I've dealt with other Nissan dealerships who have not
been half as helpful as Dave was. I recommend going
through Dave for any upcoming mods that can be bought
through Nissan.

One last thing Dave, if you happen to see this
I got a brief question for you. Do they make the
steering wheel stereo control part(does it have a
part number)and will it fit on a 2000?
If so what type of installation will it call for?

Thanks,
Howie

I concur, Dave is a good guy.

I will opt to purchase from Dave (in Texas) instead of my local dealer in Atlanta, anytime.

I ordered my foglights/winter mats/AE shift **** through Dave. He is an outstanding resource and very easy to deal with, especially aggressive on pricing. Going forward, I will order exclusively through Dave.

I agree, Dave is awesome! I just order my AE sill plates today and no trouble whatsoever. Talk about being courteous! I can't say enough about the guy...and so far I've only dealt with him once.

Disappointed

I think I speak for all of us (AE auto shifter
owners) when I say how disappointed we are
with the wait on any answers as far as the
shifter goes and how to install it without
problems. I understand Dave was waiting on
parts to narrow down the problem, but many of
us purchased this part and are waiting patiently
for some answers. It may not be his problem that
the part is on back order, but being that so many
people are waiting and he is a parts distributor,
I would think he would try anything in his power
to satisfy all the customers waiting on his
answer. I've read that someone got it installed
but in order to shift from reverse to drive he
had to slide his hand down and manually push it
to get it into gear. I don't want to have to
do this everytime I drive my car. There has
got to be something else that can be done, and
hopefully soon. I was very satisfied with
everything Dave has done thus far, but keeping
us all waiting is not my idea of good customer
service.
Keeping my fingers crossed that I can use my shifter
soon and not send it back for a refund.

If you re-read my long post carefully, you will note I have to use my hand because I SCREWED UP the part I cut on.

If you are wondering why I was cutting on the part I could simply order from Dave B. is because (1) I start cutting on it before it was determined the part could be ordered (with the exception of ordering an entire shift assembly for $300 and (2) nobody knew exactly what the differences were; therefore, nobody could order the proper parts.

Dave had somebody working on it at his dealership but that person had to take an unexpected leave of absence.

Dave has been AWESOME through this whole experiment and has helped me on more than one occasion. I think we spoke everyday last week about it. If you are questioning Dave's commitment to we on Maxima.org, then I have to question what you are expecting out of a Parts Manager of a Nissan dealership. Run down to you local dealer and tell me if you get his service.

Why don't you just return yours instead of wondering? I made a post about your's sitting in your closet to the effect of I would buy it from you. My intentions were to get one and make it work, or at least find out what the issues are, which I did.
