I don't think this is the same noise that "2002 Max SE" was talking about in his post, but mine just started making a creaking sound when I let off the clutch pedal (i.e. going into a gear). It has also made strange sounds when I press it in as well. This makes me even more weary about this clutch/transmission being that I have had issues with it since I first drove it off the lot 4 months ago. I had an independent Nissan service center drive my car, and the tech stated that it felt as though my tranmission wasn't "machined" correctly when the car was built since there is an obvious resistance when shifting into 4th gear... and other gears as well (less common).

I'll probably go ahead and contact Nissan's corportate headquarters and open a case regarding this issue. I haven't ever felt a manual transmission like this, and I don't think anyone should have to deal with these kinds of problems on a vehicle that's about 30 grand.

 

I have a lot of resistence going into 5th quite often. As I'm shifting with my normal force it resists and I just have to push harder. Other times I have to work it a little. Other times have no problem. Let us know how things go getting yours fixed, and I may consider doing something about mine.
