Can the auto headlight sensor be adjusted?

Hello.Just curious if the auto headlight sensor on the dash can be adjusted.I want the lights to come on sooner than they do.I was going to take a small plastic disc and put a light tint on it to make it darker but just want to know if it can be done another way.Thanks.

That is a great question. I would imagine - no - but it would be great if we could.....

It can not be programmed but you could partially obscure the sensor I would imagine. Perhaps there is a replacement sensor you can buy that is more sensitive to lack of light. I am with you: I feel they should turn on sooner. I believe it is 15 seconds of lack of light before they come on automatically.

Sooner?

I for one was impressed when I noticed how quick they turn on. I have driven many other vehicles with auto lights, and my 2K2 Max is the fastest out of all of them. It's somewhat intelligent too, since I can go under an overpass at a slower speed (35-45 mph) and the lights don't turn on and off real quick like other vehicles... unless of course I come to a complete stop or traveling really slow under the overpass. Just my thoughts. They delay is for a reason (about 3-5 seconds)

YES that will work. Reason why I say so is because I have a tinted Winshield. Before then, the headlights would not come on until the sunset was complete, now they come on just as the sun begins to set. So I know your idea of tinting it will work just fine.

TINTED WINDHSIELD!! You must be a brave soul...or have really good nightvision. I'm freakin' nightblind, so it was a great improvement to get HID headlights on this car. I used to have 20% mirror tint on my old car, and I couldn't see out of those windows for nothing in the dark. That very reason is why I'm gonna hold off on tint on this car (at least for a while )

Back to the subject...my old car had auto headlights and seemed to come on faster than these do as well. I've heard people on the G35 forums at FreshAlloy talking about adjusting the sensor, but I never heard whether they figured it out.

I think they come on fast enough. They pop on right when I enter a garage or something. My issue is they dont come on during dusk until it is late, or even more is when it is raining, they don't come on unless it is darker out than a normal rainy day.

Well this is where if you tinted it, it would help you in both of your cases.

Gotcha on the sensor. is that the one in NJ? I am trying to see if I will be able to go. Hopefully, if not I am planning on the one in Rock Creek park.

Rob I have done a lot to my car, but I heard you have a 2k2 6spd, I dont think I have enough to get a hold of your car. But it would be nice to see how bad or how much i can keep up with you.

It is cool, if you beat me then I will become mod crazy , if not, then I will still become mod crazy. I am habitual when it comes to the car. Once I start, I just can't stop.

I would not be suprised if you beat me or at lest stayed right with me. The car is quick, but the 2k1s had fewer ponies, but you can make that up with more mods available. Either way, I gotta know.

I know what you mean, my best friend has a 2k2 Altima Auto 3.5SE and I know that would be a good race since we both auto and I am heavily modded, I really want to know, but he wont race me. He dont "believe" in it but talks ****. Thats cool, some people aint about it, some are.

I want to do a supercharger, but i know i will burn up the tranny, i know I have broken a tranny mount already.
