P.S.

I do not have a FSTB or RSB, I can't even imagine how these H&R's would feel with those puppies bolted on...

...The mod bug is biting me again already! Don't tell my wife!

i got the addco RSB with stock springs and it helps out so much with stability feeling i can't imagine how much springs will help out

Holy Crap, are you fuking kidding me? I had the exact opposite experience w/ Maxspeeds. It's bearable, I have gotten used to it, but DAMN! I never heard a review on H&Rs like that!

Have you been on super-shiity roads yet?

NO, not yet, but I have been on some highways with some significant 'seams' where the pavement changes and there are sharp bumps, and the H&R's seem to handle them better than the stock springs. I am not saying your 'butt dyno' isn't more sensitive than mine though... I just really don't notice a difference.

Ok, I have had half a day on my new springs (no I didn't do struts yet, I am still on stock SE but they are almost new because my car only has 6000 miles on it.) and I must say I love them. The cornering is flatter and the car definitely looks and feels lower. It has only had one day to settle, but here are the after measurements:

Front right: 27 1/4"
Front left: 27 1/4"

Rear right: 27"
Rear left: 27"

ground clear under side sills (both sides): 8 1/2"

...So you can see that the front after one day and no settling has dropped exactly an inch from my before measurements (I even measured them before and after in same exact level parking spot for consistency) and the rear has dropped exactly 7/8" from before with one day to settle. I expect that to drop a little more as the weeks go on.

The drop has given the car a nice 'rake' so that the car look like it is crouched forward just a tad, which I love. The front definitely dropped more than the back a tad, which is good, but as you can see it is still 1/4" higher but it is unnoticeable to the naked eye...

My wife couldn't care less about my mods, but even she said the car felt lower, more like a car now than an SUV, and felt more confident on the road and in turns. You can FEEL that the car is riding lower when you drive, it is very sporty compared to the lifted tall feel I got when the car was stock.

But one side effect I never anticipated was, (gasp) the car actually seems to absorb little imperfections in the road better than the stock springs! I was amazed, because I expected the ride to be harsher, and it really isn't. Again, my unbiased lovely wife agreed. I really feel like I got the best of both worlds.

...Now, when somebody asks about H&R springs, direct them to this thread, because this is as detailed as I think anyone will get with a spring review!!!

Good to hear that you are happy with your H&R springs and that your wife approves too. Congrats man you have stepped up in the world of suspension. BTW thanks for the information on the offset subject.

No problem, I am guessing by now you had kinda' noticed that your new rims looked 'pushed to the corners' a little more like they were more flush with your wheel flares... It is not an optical illusion! They really are a little wider thanks to the miracle of offset like I mentioned earlier. A lot of people (I am sure you know) even go and buy wheel spacers from companies like H&R to get the same 'wide stance' effect that your new rims give you. In small quantities, it can make a car look very sporty. Too much wheel spacer and you are in a Dr. Dre video!!!

Yeah, he pretty much sold me on his review of those H&R's. I was pretty much set on the Eibachs if I went with the springs/shocks combo. But after seeing what people have to say about the H&R's, I'm almost convinced. Just need to see some PICS to seal the deal.

Don't give up on the Eibach's just yet. I feel just as confident about my Eibach's on stock shocks. They are stiffer but better in EVERY way from stock springs. Matched to a set of higher rate shocks and things would be nigh perfect. Pics on my homepage.

Hey I just installed my H&Rs today too, and car looks and rides great. Feels like it rides smoother than before it was stock.

One thing I noticed today was that my car started to pull to the right a little bit after intalling H&Rs. I am going to the alignment place to get my alignment done.

Did you do alignment after you installed H&Rs?

Thanks.

Well I guess here's my criteria: I want the car moderately lowered, not too extreme. Ride quality is very important, I definitely do not want the bouncy ride (like you get from Neuspeed Race). Of course stiffness and handling are also nice, but ride quality is more important to me.

Your car looks nice, but the drop is hardly noticeable. I'm sure it looks better in person, but if you got 18" rims/tire it would be perfect.

Do you guys have any opinions on theProgress springs? I think the Maxspeeds would be too much (2.0 all around), but the Progress are just right.

Funny I could easily see the drop. The drop looks sweet. I was about to buy Eibach's, but the slightly softer ride of the H&R is pulling me that way.

I am going to do the same thing. Does the car seem like it has extra bounce to it? I want the drop now, but don't feel like spending the extra coin for new struts. I would like to see some pics! I too have a Iclandic max.

Thanks for the pics Matt! The car looks great. I agree that it doesn't look hugely different, but that's the idea, right? The only thing is, it still seems like there's a bigger wheel gap on the front wheel than on the rear wheel...

...Thanks, like I said, it dropped almost exactly 1" all the way around, with the front like 1/8" more than the rear, but the springs have still been on less than a week, so if everyone is right, they still have some settling to do. Of course, they DO look much nicer in person, trying to capture a drop difference on a black car is a tough task... In the shade the pics come out too dark, in the sun the clear coat reflects everything right back at 'cha and you can't see a damn thing but the glare... But the gap front and rear is almost perfectly even now, you REALLY have to look to see it, and since the front was WAY higher to begin with, it now looks like the car is crouched forward just a tad, so I am happy. Any more settling it does from this point on is just icing on the cake. And the handling and stability of the ride is like night and day!

...I had to pay $200 believe me I shopped around and I live in an area that doesn't have a lot of custom shops for import tuners, they all do mustangs and camaros around here... But in SoCal or East Coast you could probably do a lot better, depends on where you live. Just call a bunch of places and bid them against each other, just like dealerships when you buy a new car.... Good luck...

I bought a $25 spring compressor set from Autozone and have done my own spring and shock installs for the past 2 years....much, much cheaper. Grab a 12 pack and a friend (friend not required..12 pack is ) and go at it one Friday evening or Saturday morning. If you were close to Lexington KY I'd come help you myself.

...That was my deal... That $200 installation money was burning a hole in my pocket once that nice white H&R box showed up on my doorstep with those powder-coated black springs inside... I wasn't willing to wait 2-3 weeks just to save 50 bucks on the install!!! So I just got 'em installed the next day and forked over the dough... Man I love driving that car now. If I get a FSTB and RSB I will be ready for all the lexus and BMW hotshots out there trying to 'lose' me in the twisties... What will they do then??? When I got 'em off the line and in the turns???
