I think most will work with a manual transmission. You just have to leave the car in neutral and make sure to set the parking brake. I know a guy who has the Viper 550 (very popular model) and that's how he has it on his car.

Yeah, I know there are many that have remote start but they are specifically designed for automatic transmissions, so I am looking for one that's designed for both auto or manual or is selectable so that I can have it installed by a professional installer and I wouldn't have to sign a stupid waiver and I would the comfort of knowing that my system was designed properly and not some rig...The only one I have found so far is the Compustar model, I was just hoping there were other models. I have contacted them several times by email and phone to find a dealer in Texas but they have yet to respond back which tells me they will probably have sh*tty customer service....

Thanks for the suggestions so far if you can think of anything else please let me know.

I don't think there's a waiver just because they install it on a manual. It's no different than on an automatic, just you have to leave the gear in neutral or the engine dies if you start it in any other gear (how all manuals act).

If your near Houston, there's only one place in town that is an authorized dealer: A to Z Accessories. If you need their information, pm me. I sent a request to Compustar and got back a reply pretty quickly...

I know that with a clifford auto start for manuals you put the car in neutral press a button on your remote then you take your key out and exit your car and press another button to shut off your car. That way it knows it's in neutral.

It's somewhat unsafe to have auto start on manuals. If you must you can use almost any auto start module, but make sure your installed knows how to wire it up to start only when the E brake is up and when the car is in neutral.

MAKE SURE HE KNOWS WHAT HE'S DOING! My friend was drunk one day, accidentally hit his auto start on his alarm button and we all watched in horror as his car crawled and hit a tree at 3mph. We were too far away to do anything....

It's important to have the e-brake on if you're in neutral. If you're out of neutral, the car will die if you auto-start it because you're not accelerating. Guess your friend was in neutral with no e-brake on?

let me just say this, u can install remote start on any car including manual tranny, the probelm is i woulndt always trust my e-brake. and if u put it in gear and remote start the car u got urself a problem even with the e-brake on. some1 i know had one installed on his prelude and he left it in gear on front of best buy, well needless to say he pushed the button (and if the car doesnt start, the remote start trys 3times to start it) and it started, stalled and slammed into the wall, three times. he was watching it too it was hilarious i coulndt stop laughin no matter how messed up it was. so just remember ur only human and uu gonna accidently put it in gear one day and forget about it.

NO! im not stupid, it never happened to me to begin with, it happened to a friend of mine. u see what i meant by three times is that the remote start tries to start the car three times, its starts then it stalls, and repeats 3 times and u cant stop it. so if u leave it in gear and push the button and see the car hit something, its gonna hit three times and u cant do nothin about it. sucks huh.

i live in school in michigan and ive toyed with the idea of getting a starter so i can warm the engine up while im getting ready for class in the mornings. it is EXTREMELY frigid in the mornings and the shivering ride to class has caused many a dreadful morning for me.

ive noticed that the rear defroster is automatically turned off whenever the car is started even if they were left on when the engine was turned off. THIS SUCKSSSSSSSSSSSS!!!!!!!!!!!!!

does anyone know a way around this?
