Stillen is about to come out with a high quality hood with seals at the ends. They promise it in about a month or two. Might run about 400 and something dollars.

well if stillen sells one then great, but we all have been hearing Stillen this and Stillen that, but they have failed to produce a ton of items thus far. In fact I think they are tired of the Max and want to play with all the new Nissan toys.

I say if you can make one great. I want one so I can take my nice stock painted hood off, and put it in my garage. That way in 3 years when it is time to go I can put on a nice clean hood. It would be nice to put some sort of hole in the CF though. That way I can port air to the intake...

Why!? Why?! Why?!

Why would you do that to your car? From a distance, it looks like primer! Or a junkyard replacement!

WHY?!?!? STOP THE MADNESS!!!!!!!!!

I have a black Max thats why i did it to my car hehe one of the sweetest mods I have

and kloogy they are paintable I think there are some issues with the paint though, like the heat from the engine can discolor the paint... like if you took the insulation on the underside of your stock hood off. I will double check with them to see if the hood can be painted easily
If everyone holds out for this elusive Stillen hood then hehe its no sense in paying 800 bucks for one hood

also washer nozzle holes are an option, I left em out on my Fiber Images hood cuz i like the super clean look!

I would need the holes for the nozzles. Functional parts are the best.

asu - I have sterling Mist. I think it will look good, but that is not my main reason for this mod, as I have stated. I personally do not look at this as a "mod" although it is, but hey, flame me as you will.

No flame intended. I just don't get it. It makes the car look like a crappy high schooler's Civic.

If you did a poll on CF hoods being ugly or not, I would bet over half of the people that answer say yes.

Well, maybe this forum is skewed because everyone here is into aftermarket ANYTHING...but the results might be interesting.

Well you can always paint them, but then what's the point? I guess weight reduction...but that would be a great waste of $500.

I have a CF hood on my car and not once has anyone EVER said it looked bad (and no they werent tryin to protect my feelings)

I for one dont drive a luxury sedan Mr. kloogy hehe niether is it a rice rocket no stickers no crazy wing no nothing... and my exhaust is quiet
The Maxima is sometihng else, not luxury and no sport compact... sport but luxurious... looks and drives like a sports car (kinda) but feels like a luxury car

I think it all depends on the look your car has, I admit it wouldnt look so hot on anything less than a fully modded car (unless the car is gunmetal or black)

its all up to personal taste, I wont hate on those who dont like the look, I personally love it on my black Max its something different but not out there in Honda land.

and a 50lb or more weight saving isnt something to sniffle at haha thats more than cutting ur interior will do

I just live in a large contruction area. I live right on the Springfield interchange in the DC Area. This means 12 years of construction, 18 wheelers, and dump trucks. If I keep my car like it is I will have nothing but primer colored parts anyhow. So I might as well do something about it if I can. The day I put one of those big aluminum wings on my car you all have permission to shoot me.

the CF doesnt chip like the stock hood, I have gotten two "stars" which are like the size of a pea (not those farming freak 5lb ones) in the 9 months I've had my Carbon Fiber hood, to go the extra mile you can get a clear bra put on it

btw check the original post on the other thread in the GD forum I explained the whole deal!

it would be a waste of $500 if u only took ur car to grocery shopping, picking up kids...

on the other hand..if u went road-racing, drag or show...the difference can be quite something..

You consider the Maxima a luxury sedan?

I would think that very few people would classify a Nissan Maxima as a luxury sedan. I mean .. I love my car (obviously!) ... but I don't think it's in the same league as a BMW, MB, Infiniti (some of them), Lexus (again some models) & even some Acura's.

I think it's a near-luxury sedan, It blows the doors off anything in it's class(in my opinion).
Really the Maxima is the best car in the nation!Hahahaha.... heavenly.
Back to the topic; So will th CF hood have sprayer holes and seals?
any cool scopes?

you can wax and buff it no problem, it wi;; develop swirls just like any other surface if it gets scratched when it gets watshed and waxed but its harder to notice because of the carbon fiber hood (just like striped shirts can make fat people look skinnier hehe )

washer nozzle holes will be a no cost option, seals you will have to find yourself (take the ones off of your stock hood)

So its not a luxury sedan. Considering Nissan labels it the " FLAGSHIP" I disagree. If you sit in my car, and any other Fully Loaded GLE, or SE, you might agree with me... But, if you sit in a 2K2 GXE, you will not agree with me....Look at my car, and imagine a CF hood on it. If you dont think that would look RIDICULOUS , then oh well....

..No way , Im just comparing how both cars look INSIDE. It gives the car a different feel. SSIPERKO's Interior looks more luxurious, than mine, he has the GLE trim. When people sit in my car, they sure dont get the feel they're in a Camry, or Accord !..... No I wont get the CF thing. We all go for different looks . Thats not what Im looking for. Im not a teenager anymore.....

...Around here, they all seem to have them.... I bought my car because I was in the market for a classy Sedan with HUEVOS... It was the TL-S, BMW, Jag X-Type , or the Maxx... The Max impressed me the most for what I wanted... Its been almost 4 months, and im not one bit sorry !

yes I do agree with you your car would look rediculous you need rims man and a bodykit something to make your car... not stock looking- then a Cf hood would look more appropriate
On Hoons car it would look bad a$$ with the gunmetal rims and the AE headlights.

you're in San Diego right? come hang out one of these days no one has EVER bagged on my CF hood (well I need to put it back on now)

I've sat in and drove 2k2 SEs they are nice cars not luxury cars... quality of materials is still far behind a luxury car plus i dont like the dash style of the 5th gens

and finally if you dont like it you dont have to have it! dont set the mood as negative... dont spoil it for those who have been waiting for someone to actually do a GD on them

have a nice day!

the hoods for the 2k/2k1 and 2k2s are the same? one hood for all 5th then? same part #?

wouldnt it suck if the mold was cut from a 2k2 hood and it didnt fit my 2k perfectly enough? i would be screwed. i dont want this to happen.
