Im at a light turning left to go back to the office, and here is this 2002 Black SE Alti....(my cars little brother, my max is black)..so I hold off and let him get beside me.

At the next light we were both in front, he had his window down, and I noticed he kept looking over, I never gave him a glance.

We took off slowly, he stayed RIGHT on my side, then I gave it a little gas....so did he, next thing you know we were off>>>>>>>>

Perfect race, no one got the jump on either car. I shifted into 2nd, and nailed it...lit em up, then into third I went.

By this time I was about .75 carlengths in front. I shut her down....

I then chose to look over and we both gave thumbs up to each other.....

MAN I'VE BEEN WAITING FOR THIS!!!!!!!!!!!!

P.S.....His preformed (visualy) like an automatic....oh well.

 

Not to sound like a Nissan hater but those Altimas are UGLY inside!!!

Yeah, I hear ya....They definately left some things to be desired.

 

i bought my dad an '02 Altima and I have to agree. Cheap POS interior.

I shoulda bought him the '02 Camry....fits him better.

 

I know it's a bit off topic, but I just got an SE gray Lustre 6 spd with the hlsd, does the 6 spd max chirp 3rd?

My car only has 430 mi. so I haven't pushed it yet, only chirped second a couple of times...

 

i've chirped THIRD only a couple of times(shifting at 5,000+ on second gear into third) ... but on hard acceleration i always chirp second.

btw.. i got the non hlsd version

Yeah, sometimes I have.....usually when its cool outside.

 

If I shift properly, every 3rd gear shift is a chirp above 6k RPMs in my 2K2 HLSD.

 

I started my search for a new car originally for a 5spd Altima(previously I had owned a '96 Altima). When I couldn't find a manual anywhere to test drive, I drove the max and fell in love! The interior was a big part of my decision as well! Thank god no one had a 5 spd Altima! I haven't regretted my decision yet!

I owned a 5.0, and a LT1 6 speed.... and I know how to powershift.....

Ive driven 3 6 speed Maximas.. without a short shifter, how do you powershift... I hope when you say powershift, we mean the same thing... shifting without letting your foot off the gas pedal .....??

Fruit roll up??? You must have some stale ones buddy....I own a 3.5SE and the leather is no where near the quality of a fruit roll up...I wish it were. I chose the Alti over the Max because of Exterior style and interior room. I sat in the back seat of the Max and my head rubbed the roof....I am only 5ft9. Interior of Alti is not best quality....neither is the Max. No comparo to the TLs. Some one posted a link here so that is why I am here. I am very curious about the next generation Max......but, I will never buy another Nissan because of their service, sales staff, mechanics, customer service! They have gone down hill since my last Nissan in 89

 

I agree....I do like the exterior style of the alty...its NICE.

The alty does have a tad more headroom in the back too....must be a bit bigger, and thats why its probably slower

i have seen some impressive numbers put up by the Alti members. Me, I do not race it, mine is an auto...I bought it what it was meant for....a family sedan. The seats in the Max I found to be VERY NICE! Anyone want to trade for my Camel ******* seats?

 

eh, both the altima and maxima seats sux0r IMO. id rather have infiniti seats. i'll have i30 seats for my car as a very last mod.

 

Nothin really.....FSTB, and some AE items. No intake or SC or N02, and an Infinity Sub.

So what is the big deal?? The simple fact that you have a stick, going against an auto with 15 "supposedless" HP, and you only win by 3/4 of a carlength?? Oh yeah... you definitely had that Alty for breakfast.. As for our interior, yeah we know it's not as refined as the Max, and you should be pretty happy it isn't, b/c if it was, what would be the reason to purchase a Maxima again???

Im tellin ya, I love the looks of the alty, if it had the same leather, and creature comforts, 6 speed, HID standard, uhhhhh, oh yeah, and the "15" extra horses.......I WOULD HAVE BOUGHT IT.

Seriously...I do like the body styling of the alty.

while some think the maximas rear is ghey, i dont. however, the altimas rear is NAAAAAAAAASTY IMO.

See it's all a matter of personal pref. The rear of the alti is my favorite part as the rear of the Max is my least favorite part of it. I do not hate the rear of the max. I love the dual exhaust on the Alti...max should have it too. I like the tail lights of the Alti.....but not on datk colors. Both Nice cars, very close in performance. Nissan should have re-named the Altima, it is not even a shadow of what the car used to stand for over the years. I never looked twice at them before 02.

I raced an Auto 3.5 Altima SE from the light and by the end of my 3rd gear I was about 3-4 car length ahead.

 

Ditto. I was able to thump an auto Alti 3.5SE with a rental 99 3.2TL.

 

Then why in the HELL are the dealers basically GIVING away Maximas at the same price as the Altimas?

Face it guys, you're ****s are PLAYED! The design is only 2 3/4 years old, and it doesn't even look as good as a 95 Millenia?????

Then Nissan's LAME attempt to make the Max's tails looks like the Alt's by clearing them out! LAME AS HELL!

Why is the new Max being built on the our Altima's platform?

Face it, Maxima guys, if your only gripe on us is about the lower quality materials used on the inside, you're basically GRASPING for straws at this point! Let it go guys, let it go.
