Wow that guy won it cheap. I got mine for $65 from the same guy. It doesn't fit very well, I think it's a universal bar made for a lot of cars. Some (maybe all) of us have had problems with too much hood pressure with this FSTB installed. You actually have to force the hood down to close it (or drop it from higher up). I've had problems with my driver side windshield washer line getting squeezed off by the bar. It looks nice, but the pressure on the hood worried some people enough that they took it off.

you want mine (it's silver and never been used)? if you want it let me know, and i'll make it a good deal. most people had problems getting it so it didn't touch the hood.

Yup...its not good. I bought one...Ended up haveing it custom welded to a proper point on the strut tower bracket so it would not hit the hood. My opinion is to find another one somewhere else.

Please post pictures or detailed instructions for how you fix the problem.

Thanks,

Thanks,
I have pics...but forget to send them out...

What I did, with the assistance of the bodyshop guy, is figure out that if you just sit the bar in the STB (strut tower brackets) and shut the hood, the clearance is fine. BUT, if you drill a hole in the STB at the point it needs to be, you will be interfering with the strut tower nut on the backside. I spent a LONG time looking for a new nut (cant be more than 1/4" tall) and could not find. I also could not find a thin headed screw (rivit like) to reverse feed the STB.

SOOOOO..... we ended up drilling the hole anyway, putting a piece of steel ingot (like a pin) and welding all the way around. SO far so good....I check on it weekly looking for stress fractures at the weld and have not noted any to date. And believe me I HAVE tested it....he he he.

Can you post the pics or email them to me? I'd really appreciate it. If I can get a better idea of what you did to fix it, maybe I can come up with another solution.

Thanks,

Sure...keep in mind that you really cant "see" the solution per say...just the placement. I cleaned it up so you cant see it really side to side...PM an email that accepts attachements. They are usually around 1.2 meg for 3 pics...zipped.

I fixed mine too....got few problems in the beginning..

1.windshield washing fluid....driver side got stuck and nothing comes out.

solution - push the bar forward since the washer fluid tubings goes near the edge of the hood.

2.bar contact with the plastic sensor near MAF on the driver side.

solution - this bracket holds both MAF sensor and an unknow circular plastic sensor. I used the bolts and rubber adapter from the stock air box to lower the bracket. now it has a gap btwn the bar and the sensor.

I would suggest ppl do to the 2nd one at least...the bar gets very hot and it might not be good for the plastic sensor.

Oh yeah...forgot about that...good call.... On mine I actually popped the plastic bracket for the sensor out and flipped it over so it installed on the bottom side of the metal braket...away from the bar...he he he...

that seems better...I only have an inch gap btwn the bar and the sensor....I believe it was knocking on the bar before I relocate them.

It looks nice, but it doesn't fit right, so it's not worth it. Should have paid the extra for the Stillen bar.

I don't need to "force" mine... But it does touch the heat shield and cut off the windshield nozzle. I just rerouted the washer... Should be fine shouldn't it?

Nope, got it from Sprinter981 or something. I probably need to adjust it, but Colonel said he tried and couldn't find a position where the bar wouldn't touch the hood. He ended up welding somewhere and moving the bar down.

Yeah, the lowest I've seen the Stillen FSTB is around $188 from EatRiceZone and Avalon Racing. The OBX is a nice copy, but it doesn't fit right. Of course, some people said their Stillen bar also touched the hood-liner and cut off the windshield washer flow.
