2k 5 speed times...New Best!

Well here is my best time

60'.....2.290
330.....6.379
1/8.....9.716
mph.....72.26
1000....12.607

1/4.....15.024
MPH.....94.50

The temperature was 75-80 degrees with a high humidity (85%). I had my front tires at 30 psi and rears at 44 during this run above. I was getting crappy 60's all night. I ran mainly low 15s.

I was kinda disappointed that I didnt hit 14's. I need to work on my 60' times because the mph is there for 14's. My functional VIAS added 4 mph. This was done at the same track with near identical conditions.

Stocks with 235/45/17s. I redlined every gear like you should in a 5th gen. It was real humid out, so that could be a variable??

Damn reving each gear to red I find that hard to swallow! I guess the humidity has something to do with it. I haven't been to the track yet, but was going after I get the damn Y-pipe in! It's ussually very humid here in Hawaii, but I guess we'll see! Sorry if it sounded like I was hating? I'm not! I was just inquiring!

Why is that hard to swallow? You have to redline every gear to get the most power out of the 5th gens.

No, you dont! Certainly yes on the 3-liter

engines which make max horsepower right at redline do u need to shift at the redline but...the 3.5 liter engines have completely different HP and torque curves...redlining a 3.5 liter is slow, slow, slowing u down!

If u dont believe me, try two runs...one at redline, another 300 RPMs off the redline, then come talk to me

The original author of this thread has a 2k 5spd with is the 3.0 liter. So why are you talking about the 3.5 liter when that isn't even on this topic?

The main reason I didnt see 14s last night was my 60'. If I had a better 60' there is no doubt I could have run a 14.8. BTW, I had a full tank of gas (only 40 miles since filled) and reduced no weight.

I had a broken Variable Intake (VIAS) last time I went to the track. My car ran a 15.38 @ 90.3 mph with the my mods. My best 60' was a 2.3 with my stock RE92's

Now with the functioning VIAS I ran a 15.024@ 94.5 mph with the exact same mods. The conditions for both times were very similar. It shows how much the VIAS does for 5th gens.

I won't go into the variable intake mess . . .

But JP, I thought your title meant that you had broken MadMax2k's somewhat unofficial 5th gen NA record of 14.38.

I meant reving each gear to redline and still getting a 15+sec time!

I just was rather surprized cus I heard way back that the 2K m/t were hitting 14 sec stock. I guess I must be imagining things. My stillen Y should be here in a few days. I should have it installed by next week. I'm going to the track next week Friday to see what I can do. Do you think I should go back to stockers for the run?
