Its time to admit my problem....
These damn sqeaks!!! I read all about them and never heard them but now they are appearing all around me! They are in the glove box, inside the dash, up in the sunroof, in the back somewhere. Its driving me nuts!!! I never said a negative thing about my car but the sqeaks are driving me crazy. I know you guys have had them, what did you do to cure them?? Its such a pain in the *** to be talking to your girlfriend with the radio turned down in your nice quiet 27k dollar car then you hear a squeak in the glove box, then the sunroof does it, then the console then they do it in harmony....
Help me out
Adam

Adam
its getting colder....
this is winter #2 for my 2K. The radio is definately inching up to drown out the rattles.. However, I plan to clean/lube all the rubber on the sunroof seal and around the doors. I think it will help alittle.

Believe me Adam..you are not alone
and they aren't noises in your head either...my Max has the A-pillar rattle which I fixed using TimW's instructions...got rid of the cracking noise it made but looks awful..looks like I stuck a cigarette butt in there
Rear deck rattles but am trying to find out from Jet what his solution was...
On the glovebox it could be many things..I went as far as removing the lock and breaking it down to tape up all the pieces that made contact to eliminate any play. That didnt work at all
Turns out it is because the glovebox does not sit tight enough when it is closed. Looks like it is but it isnt.....the other night while it was chattering away, I pressed on the whole box and it shutup....it also quieted down by pulling it away from the dash....since you cant make it any tighter, the other option is to do what BigK2000 has done and that is to replace the factory rubber stoppers with longer ones. He said he did it and it eliminated the noise and cant really tell unless you stare at it
I'm going to at least tell my dealer that it is not the lock as he suggested and basically said that there was nothing he could do.
And yes with whole cold weather thing happening the whole dash buzzes and creaks until it warms up.....real bummer for such an expensive car....
On the other hand I believe these guys with the noise free cars as I have a former co-worker who had a Max with 8k on it and you could almost hear a pin drop in it....the only rattle came from an after market sunroof control....

Ya... count me in... I bought my car new, and you could hear a pin drop inside, even @ high speeds...
Now (6k miles), it squeeks, rattles, whines worse than an '85 buick... Quick fix : turn radio up..
When i find some spare time, I'll let a friend drive it, and i WILL FIND all the noises..

Perhaps a little diversion therapy is in order . . .
Here are a few ideas:
1) Install a 2-1/2" catback system with a straight-through muffler.
2) Install a Stillen Intake, a JWT Popcharger, or a Place Racing CAI. Alternatively, install a Stillen Supercharger.
3) Install a Y-pipe.
4) Buy a Club and put it on the passenger's seat when you drive. If you position the Club just right, it will squeak and draw your attention away from the rattles.
5) Put a 5 gallon container of water behind the passenger's seat. The water will slosh around when you drive and give you the impression that you're sitting next to a babbling brook.
If all that fails, check out the Audio forum.

I'm going to try
putting weather stripping on the inside of my glovebox where it meets the dash...that may stop the plastic on plastic rattle...nice things we have to do on a 25K sticker car..........friggin Gore has something to do with this
