If you plan a Y-Pipe...get another resonator...and use 2.5" piping...otherwise, just wait.

Im getting 2.5 piping and a Y pipe, when it comes out. I just have nothing to do right now, and want to experiment, either way, I will rip everything out in 2 months... just curious what it will sound like ... and I have nothing to do tomorrow !

but if u want to see just what is sounds like for now, cut the resonator off, its only like $25-30. u just get a deeper tone at very low rpms. but like chimp sez, if ur planing on getting a y-pipe make sure u have a resonator on.

No don't remove the resonator! I just did today to get more of a free flowing exhaust out of the stock set up and it sounds like sheit. I did the Y pipe install today too and thought it was smart to remove the resonator. Screw that it sounds terrible. Now I need a catback exhaust and that will have a reasonator too so removing it was a stupid idea. I basically removed it because it was scraping when I enter my garage. Now my car sounds like a fricken truck!

If they make a Y pipe for a 2K2, I will get one , and headers , but I will have a catback with a resonator for sure. I just wanted to experiment tomorrow ...

I dunno, kloogy. I don't think you have enough to do tomorrow. Maybe you need to experiment. Jeez, here's an idea. Why don't you remove your resonator?

I was just curious why you should have a resinator with a y-pipe? I have a y-pipe with no resonator on, is that bad or is it just for better sound to keep it on?

I have nothing to do tomorrow and i'll probably be bored as well. Here's the game plan.

Wash with dawn
Dry
clay bar with mother's
some swirl remover on trouble spots
glaze whole car
1 coat liquid gold class
1 coat meguiars #26 paste

Buff to a blinding shine

Grin ear to ear

The common theory is that a Y-Pipe will amplify everything else you do to your exhaust system. So, if you think taking off you resonator will make it loud, then it will be REALLY loud with a Y-Pipe. Same goes with a muffler, catback, etc.
