HELP with Frankencar Intake, 2000

How do you get more slack out of the temperature sensor to fit into the midpipe? I can't get anymore slack off the wire. I tried opening up the wire loom for the positive battery cable, and it still doens't reach the midpipe. Help!!!

Aren't you suppose to cut along the wire loom, and reach for more wire? have you tried turning the mid pipe slightly lower so it can reach it more?

Yeah, you gotta cut more down the loom and through some electrical tape to get enough slack for the sensor. Just keep cutting down until you make enough slack.

Hey guys thanks for the help. I didn't realize that there was a clip holding on the wire loom. My buddy found it, and after I unclipped it, there was enough slack. I love this intake!!! I gain more low end then with my other intake and it is LOUD!!!

That midpipe was the best damn $60 I ever spent. I like it even better than the Y-Pipe. I've been getting crappy gas mileage, though, because I floor it EVERYWHERE I go!!!!!!

Steve-

Can you post all the parts that should be there with the Frankencar midpipe? Thanks! That way we know it's all good. Also, does the midpipe come with a decal so I can advertise for you on my valve cover?

I had a couple of misshaps with franken car, but i can say that they took care of the problem very well. They forgot to send MAF adapter, then sent the wrong one. To fix it Steve mailed the first one, when I called him and told him that they sent the wrong one he overnighted the correct one. Steve lost around 20$ on the misshaps. He could of just sent them regular ground. This fix is alot better than most companies out there. I will do buisness with them again as soon as they come out with STAGE 3 and STAGE 4!!!!!!!!!! Everybody is going to make mistakes, it' s how they fix them that counts. Another thing that makes it better is that the intake kicks A$$, good work Steve. Oh yea any body need deacals I will mail them to you. Sorry steve don't mean to under cut you, but Im not a decal person. PM me if anybody want's free franken decals.

Two questions. First, does the metal bracket, flat with holes on each end, is it supposed to be bent like that? And secondly, where does it attach?

yes it is supposed to be bent. If you angle your MAF, it goes from the top bolt (on the MAF adapter) to the holes by the strut tower. I had to bend mine a wee bit to make it fit.

See pic below.

Thanks man. I have the Berk and the Frankencar midpipe, Do you guys think I should use the larger bracket that comes with the Berk, or the smaller one with the Frankencar? I think probably the Berk provides a more secure fit to the HAI. I also put foam pads underneath where the Berk bracket attaches to the car, to provide less shaking, since that seems to be the reasoning of the month for aftermarket intake MAF failure. Who's got other ideas?

See above pic- You won't be able to use the big Berk one. Go with the Frankencar one- (pictured above)

I won't? Why is the FrakenBerk longer? yuck. I really liked my setup with the absorbtion of foam. Maybe I'll put a spacer between the Frankencar bracket and the strut tower.

Absorbtion of foam? Huh? The FrankenBerk is wayyy longer (see pic). Use that twisted bracket thingy....

Are we on the same page:? Now I'm confused......

LOL it's ok man, you're just looking at catering web pages instead of the .org right? Anyhow, the bracket connects the HAI to the strut tower base, basically one of the 5 bolt holes from the original intake. I can put a foam piece between the bracket and the car to soften the vibrations. On the Berk I did it between the bracket hole and the car body, it helped a ton. Although I'm still not convinced about the cause of MAF failure, is it treating the MAF badly (needs to be used like china) or overoiling a filter, or what? Grrr, wish we had a definitive answer, but as usual, we don't.

So you made a shock absorber for your MAF?? Ahhhhhhh. Gotcha. Unnecessary IMO, but very ingenious....

Now you've got it. Not just for the MAF, for the whole intake. It wasn't sturdy enough for me.

cut that surrounding of the cable (carefully please!) once u reach the clamp on the cars body, use a flat screwdriver to pop that open, keep, pull the cable out, and keep cuttin to about 2 inches past the plastic clamp. after that use electric tape to put the cable back togheter and pop it back into the plastic clamp. no u have more then enough slack.

ditto on that, im kinda satisfied with it. the intake is loud as ****, but unlike the stillen which stops the roarin at 4rpms this one screams past it, but once again just stops at 5300rps now and just revs after that. it this just my ride or its about normal on every1 elses as well. other then that, love the sound and low end kick is awesome as well. peace.

I have a question.... There is a piece that is connected to the factory bracket which is connected to the top of the strut tower. It has 2 wires (more like a hose) that are connected to it, I think it is 2 .. It is a gold color... I wanted to know where should this be mounted after the intake is installed?? Currently all I have is the JWT POP and I just have it hanging behind the intake right under my FSTB.

The cord doesn't look that long, but I'll check and see if I can do it after work... Which hole on the tower did you use??

Did you connect the black bracket, which it was attach to before taking that stock air box out, back on the strut tower and put it on that??
