02 Short Thorw Shifter or 01 Stillen Short Throw?

Does anyone make a short thorw shifter for the 02 SE six speed? I see Stillen has one for the 01, but those weren't six speeds were they? Any ideas?

I don't know if anybody makes a short shifter for the 02, but the 00-01 Max was a 5sp. The 6sp is only on 02-03 Max SE's.

Hmm

Well, I'll just keep my eyes open! Thanks for the reply. Maybe I'll try contacting Stillen and see if they have future plans for the 02/03.
Thanks!

No Problem...

I looked around...looks like there's no short shifter made for the 02. Something to do with the fact that it's a cable shifter, different than the 00-01 shifters. Do a search, you might find some info. on it.

Thats what I have heard too. Dont know what a cable actuated shifter is but I was under the Max earlier and I didnt see any link going to the tranny. Anyone here know how a cable shifter works?

instead of rods there are two cables, one for horizontal movement and the other for vertical movement that shifts gears the same way the rods would on a rod shifter. only thing is a rod shifter is better. i'd like to see a STS soon though.

After driving a couple of 2K2 6 speeds, this is a must , real soon ! That slush box makes powershifting a hazard to your health. I feel I might rip the sifter right off the car !

Greddy makes a weighted shift **** that supposed to make shifting alittle more controlled. Its a nice size too and it looks good. Closest thing so far for the 2k2.

You can move the point where the cables attach to the shifter. Involves cutting and welding though. Then cut down the length of the shifter Someone did it in an Altima. i think at altima.net.

I really hope someone comes out with a short-throw shifter soon. That's the one thing I would love to change about my car's interior. I would like a physically shorter shifter, as well as one with less "play" to it. Sign me up as soon as it comes out!

After having an sts in the past I feel your pain. I hate the ammount of travel in my shifts. Ive already had a couple times where I missed the shift because of it!!

Uhh are ya crazy? AM I the only one that does not want a shorter shifter? Dang I shift way too fast for the one I have now.

If you people really want a shorter shifter ALL you really need to do is relocate the cables on the shifter itself. Remove your shifter cover and you'll see. It looked to me like it could be done without much effort. Id pick this up as another how to project but I really don't care to make mine shorter.
