2k2 6 Spd Engine and Transmission Oils
Hey guys, 15 k on my car and i've finally decided to switch over to mobile one
What viscosity is reccomended that i run on my car? i drive about 200 miles a week and use it all year round. i live in new jersey with temperatures anywhere from -10 to 110+ degrees F. how many quarts would i need to for my car?
Also as per transmission oil, Redline MT-90 has been mentioned a lot... is there varying viscosity for transmission oil? if so what do i use for my car and how many quarts would i need for my car?
thnx in advanced for all the help
btw.. search lead me to eliminate my oil options to mobile 1 and redline.

MT-90 is the correct viscosity and is what you should use in the transmission if you want to use Redline. For other gear oils for the transmission, a 75W-90 GL4 is the correct viscosity. You will need to buy three quarts to ensure you have enough to change the transmission fluid.
I'm curious to hear why your search eliminated Amsoil as a viable option.

Yes, Amsoil does make a transmission oil for the Maxima's special needs (GL-4)...
Here's a good place to start...

And IMHO, using 10W-30 is fine if you live in warmer climates where winter doesnt get too cold. I haven't seen any Mobil1 5W-30 only 10W-30.

I've seen the 5W-30 at most discount auto stores and Wal-Mart. It has the blue cap.

why can't people just use what is recommended by the manufacturer? 5W-30 for our cars.
Oils these days especially synthetics are great, and why not use 5w-30 plus the thinner oil will still protect and give better gas milage.
