LEDs are crap
I listened to a few of you and bought LEDs for my front and rear clear side markers. I bought amber and red LEDs from autodynamic.com.
They suck. One (there are four on each) of the LEDs on the amber set was burnt out already. The red is definitely pink. Both are not nearly bright enogh. I put the amber bulbs back in and they look a zillion times better.
LEDs suck. Don't buy them.

yeah..
I was behind a civic with LEDs in some twisty turns.. each time he turned off center of me, it looked like his tail lights went out. Anymore than about 15-20 degrees and you cant see the LEDs. Didnt look safe at all... or very cool

well, what LEDs are they? apc? cuz IMO the apc's suck the worse. the color is horrible. my rear red LEDs are mini-max. the package has japanese all over it. i ordered it from midnightmoose.com with the 5thgenmaximas discount code. i like them. this is what they look like at night:
except, imagine that it's night and instead of the white color of the bulbs in this pic (my4dsc's car), imagine theyre red. the mini-max LEDs are MUCH redder than the red apc LEDs. i think theyre okay. however, they dont fill up the whole lens... but actually, i dont think the clears look very good when the whole lens is filled with "red" or "amber." all i want is the "dot" of light and the mini-max LEDs are sufficient.
the only problem i have so far is, mini-max doesnt have amber bulbs! so im stuck with the apc amber LEDs in the front and omg, i hate them. though, oddly enough, life goes on.

Mine luckily haven't burnt out. At night the red is very RED . And the ambers look good as well. They are both very bright at night. When there is still light out side(early evening) they are not bright and the reds look a little pink when you look closely, but you can't see them anyway because it is light out. I am quite happy with mine.

I can't find the packaging, I must have thrown it away. I ordered the bulbs from autodynamic. I ordered from them instead of midnight moose becasue midnight moose didn't have the amber bulbs listed on their website. I ordeered the normal LED's, not the extra bright ones because every one said those look pink but the normal ones don't. At night mine fill up the whole lens. During the day they look like that pic posted earlier in this thread.

Yeah dude. Those are the ones I use in my step lights. They are awesome, give off a white blue effect inside, which looks so sweet @ night with my Majestic Blue/Frost. It reflects off the AE door sills. Damn, I love my Max @ night just for my lighting setup. Of course, during the day is good too, cuz you can see cops better :-)
