Question on Clutch??

I was driving today and I noticed that in 1st gear at close to redline rpms when i shift quickly into second the tach stays up in the 6 range for a second then drops to where the tach should be. Now I'm pretty sure that I'm not holding down the clutch at all and when I do the normal check for clutch slipping(low speed, high gear and then floor it)the tach doesn't slip at all. Does anyone have any idea what is going on

Mine does that too, i figured it was just related to the electronic throttle not letting the engine revs drop quickly. But you have a 2k, and I don't believe those had the e-throttle. Odd....All I can say is that mine does it too, and i'm pretty sure it must be normal, both transmissions I've had in my car have done it.

Smog control engine management - since about 1973 engines have had their throttle response modified like that to prevent fast drop in rpm because that is a very high smog condition. It is more noticeable on some than others, and hardly noticeable on an automatic.
