Weird keyfob problem

I have this problem with my keyfob (seems to be getting worse( and I wonder if any of you guys have the same problem.

When I unlock the car, the first press always works (unlocks the driver door) no matter where I stand relative to the car. Now, the second press rarely works the first time (actually it might take as much as 10 presses before the passenger door unlocks. It seems to be worse when I'm behind the car but that does not make sense since it's the same transmitter/receiver for both presses??? Anybody else has that problem???

Did you try to change battery in the fob? It probably has enough energy for one transmission then it needs some rest... just a thought.

Mike.

I've noticed the same thing. It seems you have to time that second press just right or you just have to start over with the driver door unlocking. Never had that problem on my 2k. The trunk release is quicker on my 2k2 though!

I tought about that but in my case it's a 2K2 (batteries should be fresh) and anyway both keyfobs act the same way.

It almost seems like the receiver won't accept a new transmission for 'door unlock' for a while. But even that is strange since I did some tests 'unlock + trunk release' and it works every time... It's just 'unlock + unlock' that doen't work???

Yes, I have the same problem with my 2K3......... I think it is the timing. I have been playing with it each time I go to open the car. They say within 5 secs for the 2nd press but they do not mention wait 1 sec before pressing the second time. It seems to work better if I pause a second then press the 2nd time with a little longer press.

Thanks for the tip. I tried your suggestion today and it worked everytime (and from every angle). I guess they should mention it in the manual but it is so badly written to start with... Thanks again!

Are you guys hitting the unlock button in a rapid fire mode...like one right after the other? If not, it won't trigger all the door to open at once. My problem is that if you passenger pulls on the door handle the same time as you hit the unlock button, you have to open the door manually for them from the inside!

Just about every car I ever had did that. Another way to fix it without having to unlock from the inside is to lock the doors and unlock again.
