Here are some pics of my new Injen CAI. Power is definately improved over my Frankencar intake. Sound is very good and looks great

Awesome ! Looks sharp. How long did it take you to install ?
Can you post a picture of where the filter sits underneath ... ?

How hard is it to install? Do you have to cut out a hole for the filter? I already took out my Franken intake for the stock setup with K&N drop in. After seeing your picture I might switch over to Injen CAI.

No cutting is necessary! That is why I love this intake. Here is a close up shot looking down:

Took me a little bit over an hour to install. It was easy since all the oem stuff was off.

Just got back from checking out Dave's CAI. I drove it, and it definetly seems too give you a better jump out of the hole, than the Franken does. It is much quieter too. It looks awesome ! So for those of you who dont like the sound of the Franken, this one is definetly for you. By the way, Dave has a rrrrrrrrrrrreal nice Max !

Thanks Kloogy!!!

I bought the intake at www.adventon.com They had the best price and I got it within 2 days! They are located out in San Dimas, Cali so shipping was not a huge delay. MichaelAE referred me to this place. Great customer service and they know what they are talking about!!!

Rock on, glad George treated you well.

Mine is sitting in my office waiting to be installed. I found a spray paint which should hold up in the engine bay heat as well as bond to silicone. I will be painting my hoses and connectors to match the hose kit I'm waiting on from HoseTechniques. As soon as I have a chance to paint, that Injen is going in the bay.

Great to hear you're happy with the performance and GREAT to hear that it is quieter...don't need to hear the growl if I can feel it.

Is the ijen intake as loud as the stillen? I know the stillen is not a CAI, but how would you guys compare the quality, and benefit?

I had the Stillen on my previous 2K Max and loved it. It had a nice throaty sound at idle. This (as far as I know) is the only CAI for the 5th gen Maximas. Look at my homepage for more pics of my Injen and the Stillen Intake I had on my 2K. Comparing the two, I would definately go with the Injen.

But what are your reasons for choosing the ijen?

Wow, looks great and no need to cut a hole too! Having to cut a hole for a CAI is why most 4th gen guys avoid the CAI. If I had 5th gen, I would definitely get this. Very nice!

I also installed my injen this weekend. I put some rubber washers on the bolt that goes into the engine to cut down on vibration. Here is a pic of it:

Im not aware of what the differences in fittments are between the Auto and 6 speed. It looked awesome though. Dave's tint is WICKED ! If you sit in his max, it feels like someone turned the sun off ! This is in Socal TOO !

Actually, Place Racing has had the longstanding title as the ONLY CAI for the 5th gen. Some would say that it is still the title holder since it actually takes the filter outside of the engine bay. It does, of course, require drilling so it has not been the most popular option.

Say no to PR. There is no reason Dave's Intake is less efective than PR.. I wouldnt drill anything in my 30K car, and Im sure most of the other 2K2 owners wouldnt either. If you are set on a CAI, go INJEN !

Dont get me wrong, I love the INJEN intake. Just wish they did not have the piping running infront of the radiator. That does not help in heating up the pipe and the air as it goes in. I know it is not a huge increase in temp, but every little counts.

That is why I like PRcai since it pulls Cold air, and the piping is away from the radiator.

But looks good, and I would definetely recommend this over the Franken intake. I mean this is clearly the way to go since it has more air travel in the piping and picks up much colder air.

Lovvvvvvvvvvvvvvve it.

you would have to go through a lake to get water sucker into the engine because the filter is above the splash guard keeping a minimum amout of water coming into contact with the filter

However, you 2K1 owners are clearly ready to start drilling holes in the car!!!!!! Just 2K2 owners, huh?

got mine too

I just bought my Injen as well from adventon.com. It ran me $227 after shipping which is about a $100 less than any place out in DC could get it for. As for the performance of it, being the skeptic that I always am, I called around to two very reputable places, Altered Atmosphere (where I had intended to buy it before Adventon) and the ever famous Autothority in VA. Both places highly recomended Injen due to their performance and durability. And no drilling!!!

BTW if anyone decides to order it from Adventon, ask for George. These guy are great with the customer service and will answer all your questions. Apparently they can keep their prices down on some items due to customers spreading the word, so tell them you're coming from Maxima.org
